Flower GARDEN UPDATE

...Mid June!
Sure, you see me and my veggies gardens all day and all the time... but for me, the outdoors is more than simply food.

ABOVE, welcoming people to my front door, is a simple splash of colour. Each side of my front steps has a large planter, filled with this trio of reds, oranges and yellows.

Above: Top left, barely there, but blooming, our roses are beginning to Blossom!
Below: Depends on the area of the house, but waves of colour are fun for us!

Above: At one point, along the front walkways, I had meters and meters of Lavender growing. Sadly, the winters here have slowly killed the lavender. Mostly, it's our need to salt our walkways because of the ice that makes it difficult for the lavender.
Below: all over the yard, hidden in pockets are little splashes of colour. These two are right below the large butterfly bushes, that see dozens of Monarchs each year.

Butterfly bushes, tons of Hydrangea, and more, as soon as they pop their own colours!

Gardening To DO:

  • harvest lettuce, arugula, spinach soon.
  • tie up more tomato, build trellis
  • weed more between vegetables
LOTS More to come, from my GroVid22 Gardens!

Loving the splashes and pops! I love wandering around my local walled garden centre in the Spring/Summer. Some lovely little nooks and crannies to go and find a quiet seat and rest in the natural beauty that adorns the place. My own garden... hmmm... the back garden is overshadowed by a massive tree on the neighbour's fence line. Between the branches that shade out the sun... and I am fairly certain some thirsty roots... nothing much grows in our back garden... any planting I do has to be in the front... but that gets a lot of sun so managing water with the sun can be tricky too. This year I have failed dismally. The apple tree that I planted from seed in 2020 is growing nicely still... needs a pot transplant though... and our avocado trees from pips are doing well too...but they can't stay out in the winter. I left my kaffir lime out this past winter and I fear that I have killed it 😥 My baby Sherman on the other hand is thriving in his pot in the window box upstairs. He will get some full summer sun outdoors soon. I have a few tomato plants that are going ok... otherwise...its back to the drawing board... and I will start planning the winter crops instead... I hope all is ok on your side of the world !LUV !ALIVE

The Rose Campion, (Pinks and Magentas) as well as the Lavendar all grow out front. That's the east/north east. After about 11 am, it is in shade, from the house.

The back yard and side yard, are all my Veggie and fruits... as well as those POP's of Colour in the pots! Also, back side corner, is where my Hydrangea all hang out! they're about to POP, too!

I need to explore more and learn a bit more about what will work best in the front garden which is East/South East facing... I love Hydrangea - reminds me of home. My Mom always had Hydrangea in her round island garden outside her bedroom window... we also had a wonderful Azalea climber that greeted all guests at our front door. I probably just need a timed sprinkler system again... sharing a small piece of front garden with two football and basketball-loving kids is not always conducive to great gardening! !LUV !ALIVE

Beautiful flowers! Lovely @bluefinstudios Flowers are important to have, for the attraction of the bees. And they make the garden so pretty

Bees!

They're the biggest reason for me having flowers around my yards!
