Blue's 2 Minute Garden Tips - My Grow Lights Setup

Tour Of My Grow Lights Setup

As you may know, I am a gardener. AND, I don't let Mother Nature and Old Man Winter slow me down. I grow ALL YEAR LONG.

Follow my latest 2 Minute Garden Tip as I show you a tour of how I set up my Grow Lights Shelves with Light, Heat, and Wind, for growing indoors, all winter long, in my Cold, Dark Basement.

Seedlings are very fussy, so adding heat to the soil is important. AND, seedlings, like most everything, need light to thrive. A little behind the scenes look at how I set the equipment needed to make sure delicate little seeds, turn into healthy, delicious food for my own family and friends.

I like knowing that I am providing my own food for family and friends. I know what I use to grow the foods, and know that it is the ultimate locally grown!

And that makes me smile... better for the planet, better for my own family.

Is it summer where you are? is it winter? are you still growing? Show me how you are growing your garden, all year long...

Nice set up. I like the plastic and fan. All those electric cords going into one outlet looks a little scary 😅 LEDs might be worth the investment to lower the load on that outlet.

Almost all the lighting is LED, except for one fixture w/ 2 florescent Tubes. I can check my multimeter, but I'd guess the load is about 5 amps total, into the circuit. Good news: my degree is in lighting design, and I spent a good deal of time, doing math on amps/volts/watts, and more. W=VA

I vaguely knew you were in the entertainment business. Good to know you are all safe on the power. We did an event once where we had 3 chocolate warmers plugged into one outlet and it melted the cord 🤦‍♂️ I've been pretty careful since then...

I cannot tell you how many times, catering plugs 3 coffee pots in to a circuit in the catering tent and wonders why the breaker went out!

that photo is a Facebook memory of a friend of mine! 3 Gnocchi makers were plugged in at an event we did a few years ago.

I've always wanted to get growth lights, since some of my plants struggle during winter. I think I'll invest in some 🤔

It doesnt have to be elaborate, like mine. one single grow light will take care of anything underneath it. I start a LOT of seeds, plus grow a lot of herbs, spinach, arugula, and lettuce in winter... so, I have all those lights, and heat mats. As for cost, they are not too bad, for one or two.

Ya, I saw you have an entire setup for growing seeds and all. I'll get one next winter, I mean if you can grow all of those veggies and seeds, if without a doubt will keep my plants happy during winter time.

I do grow some of my houseplants and flowers, too. Most of the house plants and flowers sit in windows, but I rotate them under the grow lights about every third or fourth day, too
