My experience at Casa Santa Clara restaurant | 📍Top of the Cerro de Monserrate. [ESP-ENG]

Espero se encuentren bastante bien y que su semana haya marchado con la mejor actitud, por mi parte bastante contenta por todas las aventuras que he podido disfrutar en estos días, una de ellas es de las cuales les vengo a hablar hoy, tuve la oportunidad de subir al cerro de Monserrate que queda ubicado en la ciudad de Bogotá, Colombia y degustar de la deliciosa comida en uno de sus increíbles restaurantes, que a demás de eso tiene una gran historia por contar. Sin más, por aquí les contaré un poco de mi experiencia 🤗

I hope you are feeling well and that your week has gone with the best attitude, for my part I am very happy for all the adventures I have been able to enjoy these days, one of them is the one I am going to talk about today, I had the opportunity to climb the hill of Monserrate which is located in the city of Bogota, Colombia and taste the delicious food in one of its incredible restaurants, which also has a great story to tell. Without further ado, I'll tell you a little bit of my experience 🤗

Como lo mencioné antes, el restaurante Casa Santa Clara queda ubicado en el cerro de Monserrate, por lo que para visitarlo tienes que subir en teleférico o en funicular, una vez llegues al cerro y pases el cartel de las indicaciones, el personal del restaurante serán los primeros que te darán la bienvenida y te invitarán a pasar, bajamos por unas escaleras y solo desde allí podíamos admirar la hermosa vista de la ciudad de Bogotá, el camino estaba lleno de flores y luego en la entrada había un letrero que de indicada habías llegado al restaurante. Debo decirles que la entrada de este me gustó muchísimo, parecía de cuentos.

As I mentioned before, the restaurant Casa Santa Clara is located on the hill of Monserrate, so to visit it you have to go up by cable car or funicular, once you get to the hill and pass the sign of the indications, the restaurant staff will be the first to welcome you and invite you in, we went down some stairs and only from there we could admire the beautiful view of the city of Bogota, the road was full of flowers and then at the entrance there was a sign that indicated that you had arrived at the restaurant. I must tell you that I really liked the entrance of this one, it looked like a fairy tale.

Ahora bien, hablándoles un poco de la historia de este restaurante, según me contó mi suegra y como pueden ver en la foto del folleto que les dejaré abajo, este restaurante originalmente se encontraba en una casa que fue construida en Francia, pero luego un Bogotano llamado Carlos Navarro quien era hacendado en esta ciudad, viajo a Francia donde se enamoro de la casa y mando a traerla a Bogotá para ser instalada aquí, por lo que la casa viajo pieza por pieza desde Francia hasta Bogotá, donde fue instalada en la hacienda las Mercedes, pero al pasar el tiempo y con el crecimiento de Bogotá, la casa tuvo que ser desarmada por segunda vez para ser instalada en lo alto del cerro de Monserrate. Hoy en día es el restaurante con la mejor vista de este lugar y su comida, una de las mejores de toda la ciudad. Interesante ¿Verdad?

Now, telling you a little of the history of this restaurant, according to my mother-in-law told me and as you can see in the photo of the brochure that I will leave below, this restaurant was originally located in a house that was built in France, but then a Bogotano named Carlos Navarro who was a landowner in this city, traveled to France where he fell in love with the house and had it brought to Bogota to be installed here, so the house traveled piece by piece from France to Bogotá, where it was installed in the hacienda Las Mercedes, but as time went by and with the growth of Bogotá, the house had to be disassembled a second time to be installed on top of the hill of Monserrate. Today it is the restaurant with the best view of this place and its food, one of the best in the city. Interesting, isn't it?

Una vez leí su historia y mi suegra me conto parte de ella, nos dirigimos a la parte de la comida para saber que ibamos a pedir, lo interesante del menú de este restaurante es que te sirven sabores típicos de nueve regiones de Colombia, entre esos platillos fuertes y entradas. Nosotros pedimos de entrada unas albóndiga de plátano maduro rellenos con cerdo, las cuales vinieron acompañadas con salsa de café y Maracuyá.

De plato fuerte pedimos dos bandejas paisas las cuales es un plato típico de la región Antioquia, el cual viene con zaragoza, arroz blanco, carne molida, chorizo, morcilla, chicharrón, tajada de plátano maduro, aguacate, huevo frito y una arepa paisa. Este tuvo un valor de $54.900 pesos Colombianos ($13.77 dólares) y pedimos de acompañamiento jugo de Corozo.

Debo decir que cada platillo estuvo delicioso, primera vez que probaba las albóndigas de plátano maduro y el hecho de que estaban rellenas con cerdo le daba un toque increíble para el paladar, ni hablar de las salsas que sin duda fue un buen complemento, mi favorita fue la de café. La bandeja paisa por otra parte, tenía años que no me comía una, este platillo era bastante grande así que con dos fue suficiente, solo tuvimos que pedir un plato extra y así los tres quedamos super bien.

Once I read its history and my mother-in-law told me part of it, we headed to the food part to know what we were going to order, the interesting thing about the menu of this restaurant is that they serve typical flavors from nine regions of Colombia, among those entrees and appetizers. We ordered a starter of ripe plantain meatballs stuffed with pork, which came with coffee and passion fruit sauce.

For the main course we ordered two paisas trays which is a typical dish from the Antioquia region, which comes with zaragoza, white rice, ground beef, chorizo, blood sausage, chicharron, slice of ripe plantain, avocado, fried egg and a paisa arepa. This had a value of $54,900 Colombian pesos ($13.77 dollars) and we ordered Corozo juice as an accompaniment.

I must say that every dish was delicious, first time I tried the plantain meatballs and the fact that they were stuffed with pork gave it an incredible touch to the palate, not to mention the sauces that certainly was a good complement, my favorite was the coffee sauce. The bandeja paisa on the other hand, it had been years since I had eaten one, this dish was quite big so two was enough, we only had to ask for an extra plate and so the three of us were super good.

La verdad me sentí bastante a gusto en este restaurante, el personal te hace sentir bastante cómodo debido a que cuentan con una excelente atención, cada esquina de este lugar era hermosa, cada foto contaba un poco de la historia, los platillos estuvieron deliciosos y ni hablar de la vista que nos acompaño en toda la visita.

Sin duda es una experiencia única que me encantaría volver a repetir, gracias a Dios tuve la oportunidad de vivir esta grata experiencia que tendré como recuerdo por mucho tiempo. The truth is that I felt quite comfortable in this restaurant, the staff makes you feel quite comfortable because they have an excellent service, every corner of this place was beautiful, each photo told a little bit of history, the dishes were delicious and not to mention the view that accompanied us throughout the visit.

Undoubtedly it is a unique experience that I would love to repeat, thank God I had the opportunity to live this pleasant experience that I will have as a memory for a long time.
