Attack Sequence – How it works?

avatar

Hi everyone! As I type this, there is slightly more than 1 day before the Pre-sale ends and everyone is giddy with excitement waiting for the Dr Blight airdrop and watching the top 6 leaderboard. I didn’t manage to snag any pre-sale packs and if you did, I hope the RNG gods are on your side (they are almost never on my side).

What I like to discuss today is attack sequence and if you have been playing Splinterlands long enough, you would know Speed is the determining factor. But what is considered next if Speed is the same? That’s what I would like to find out and if you know, please share it with all of us.

Why am I asking this? It’s because of the battleI witnessed below.

Straight forward enough battle with the same cards used, just position was different. If you watch the battle, the Unicorn Mustang on the bottom half always attacks first, even after killing the Failed Summoner. It kept going first till there was 1 HP left for both Mustangs and then the attack sequence changed!!

I have seen attack sequences changed but mainly chalked it up to cards dying and thus the sequence deviates. But I have never seen a blow for blow fight change at the critical moment. Is it really just pure RNG? As I said if you know the reason, please share or tag someone who does. Appreciate it!

Hey Boboman. Attack Order follows a certain hierarchy, and it goes like this.

1 - Speed
2- Attack Type -> Magic attacks first, then Ranged and lastly Melee
3 - Rarity -> Legendary attacks first, then Epic, then Rare and lastly Common
4 - Level - Higher Levels attacks first
5 - Random -> completely RNG.

So in that match as soon as the Failed Summoner dies, it is purely RNG. Any one of the cards can attack before the other. On those cases what really matters is which one will attack first in the last attack when they are very low, and you just saw how that went.
