HIVE: "Free writing as a contet generator", by bonzopoe

One of the big issues in communities like HIVE is consistency in the creation of content, and that this content can connect with readers. For this, there are two things that you have to solve: have things to share, and do it in an attractive and/or interesting way to capture the reader's attention.

I have discovered that a very practical option to achieve both is free writing, which, although it is not a 100% guarantee, does allow us to generate quality content in a very short time, and in a very honest way.

I do this in several ways, in particular two. In the first one I literally sit down to write the first thing that occurs to me, and during the process I find meaning in what I am writing and from there I redirect the text.

This is something like starting to cook using what you have on hand, without having any idea of the final product. At first you use random ingredients, but after a while and seeing what flavor it is acquiring, that suggests what it could be because it reminds you of something or looks like something you already know.

The other way is to use free writing almost as a synonym for recording thought, that is, using writing to record what I am thinking. I use this a lot when something provokes a reaction in me, and when I start to think or reflect on it, I write it down at the same time.

This allows me to give my thoughts a better order and structure, and also allows me to generate potential content. As the text reflects my questions, concerns and reflections on a certain topic, many times not even without a value judgment, which makes it easier for others to connect with what I have written.

It is important to note that the same features that can make free writing attractive can have the opposite effect. Sometimes the resulting texts do not lead to anything, they are chaotic, disordered, without structure, and this is because many times that is how our mental processes are: complex and apparently disordered.

However, when it works you can have in a few minutes an honest, authentic and interesting text, which apart from helping you clarify your own thoughts, has the potential to be material of interest to potential readers.

Free writing has the additional benefit that it can help you find your own voice, both in the topics to be discussed and in the way in which you present them, since your texts will inevitably revolve around the topics that interest you and/or your way of seeing the world, and they will be written based on your own logic of thought.
