This series was one of Netflix's bets for the year 2021, and a very good one. This is an excellently made Danish series that keeps you hooked in each of its 6 50-minute episodes, but appear as if they were at least twice as long.

Esta fue una de las apuestas de Netflix para el año 2021, y una muy buena. Se trata de una serie danesa de una excelente factura que te mantiene enganchado en cada uno de sus 6 episodios de 50 min. de duración, pero que pareciera como si fueran por lo menos el doble.

This is appreciated because there is not a single second wasted in it, and despite being short, it manages to perfectly develop a complex story, which, although it gives you some clues, never lets you have a total certainty of what the outcome will be, which goes without saying that it is surprising.

Esto se agradece porque no hay ningún segundo desperdiciado en ella, y a pesar de ser corta logra desarrollar perfectamente una historia compleja, que si bien te da algunas pistas, nunca te deja tener una certeza total de cual será el desenlace, que sobre decir que es sorpresivo.

The story is carried out by a pair of detectives who did not know each other or had worked together until then, but who share the fact of going through a complicated personal and work situation.

La historia está protagonizada por un par de detectives que no se conocía ni habían trabajado juntos hasta ese momento, pero que comparten el hecho de pasar por una situación personal y laboral complicada.

One being on the tightrope at work due to the aftermath of a family misfortune, and the other being in the process of changing jobs so she can spend more time with her daughter, and perform better as a mother. It is in this context as a starting point, that we are presented with an investigation that goes from less to more, and in the process makes life even more complicated for both of them, something that neither wanted, but that they cannot avoid.

Uno al estar en la cuerda floja en su trabajo por las secuelas de una desgracia familiar, y el otro por estar en proceso de cambiar de puesto para poder pasar más tiempo con su hija, y desempeñarse mejor como madre. Es en este contexto como punto de partida, que se nos presenta una investigación que va de menos a más, y en el proceso les complica todavía más la vida a ambos, algo que ninguna deseaba, pero que no pueden evitar.

The plot revolves around a series of terrible crimes in the city of Copenhagen that later seem to be linked to the case of the missing daughter of an important political figure in the local government for more than a year, which further complicates the investigation and the lives of everyone involved, from the investigators to the family of the missing girl.

La trama gira en torno a una serie de crímenes en la ciudad de Copenhague que luego parecen vincularse con el caso de la hija desparecida por más de un año, de una importante figura política del gobierno local, lo que complica aún más la investigación y las vidas de todos los involucrados, desde los investigadores hasta la familia de la niña desaparecida.

The English title of the series, 'The Chestnut Man', is taken from the book on which the series is inspired, an international best seller written by Søren Sveistrup, and refers to some dolls made with twigs and chestnuts that always appear in the crime scenes; and the Spanish title, 'El Caso Hartung', is taken from the name of the case of the missing girl, the daughter of prominent political figure Rosa Hartung.

El titulo en inglés de la serie, 'The Chestnut Man', está tomado del libro en que está inspirada la serie, un best seller internacional escrito por Søren Sveistrup, y hace referencia a unos muñecos hechos con ramitas y castañas que aparecen siempre en las escenas del crimen; y el título en español, 'El Caso Hartung', se toma del nombre del caso de la niña desaparecida, la hija de la prominente figura política Rosa Hartung.

With a plot that gets more and more entangled with each episode, revealing data from the past and mixing it with that of the present, the story is very well developed both at the script and production level in general.

Con una trama que se enreda cada vez más con cada episodio, revelando datos del pasado y mezclándolos con los del presente, la historia está muy bien desarrollada tanto a nivel de guión como de producción en general.

The performances are very good, without false fuss and without idealizing characters, the photography is very careful, in cold tones and with interesting details here and there, the locations and the soundtrack contribute very well to the mysterious and dark air of the story, and in In general, few criticisms can be made of the making of the series.

Las actuaciones son muy buenas, sin falsos aspavientos y sin idealizar personajes, la fotografía muy cuidada, en tonos fríos y con detalles interesantes aquí y allá, las locaciones y la banda sonora contribuye muy bien al aire misterioso y oscuro de la historia, y en general son pocas las crítica que pueden hacerse a la hechura de la serie.

The ending of the series is not out of place and leaves you with a good taste in your mouth, and after the roller coaster of emotions in the final chapters, the story ends by opening a couple of doors for what could be a second season, one through of the protagonists, the pair of detectives, and another through a secondary character who during the story seems like a filler but in the end becomes relevant.

El desenlace de la serie no desentona y te deja con un buen sabor de boca, y después de la montaña rusa de emociones de los capítulos finales, la historia termina abriendo un par de puertas para lo que puede ser una segunda temporada, una a través de los protagonistas, el par de detectives, y otra a través de un personaje secundario que durante la historia parece de relleno pero al final cobra relevancia.

So don't be surprised if this year we have the second season of the series, which if it's as good as this season, it will be ideal for a weekend marathon, with someone to cuddle next to for those very classic scenes of Nordic noir series, which always make your hair stand on end.

Así que no se sorprendan si esta año tenemos la segunda entrega de la serie, la cual si es igual de buena que la primera temporada, será ideal para un maratón de fin se semana, con alguien a quien abrazar al lado para esas escenas muy clásicas de series noir nórdicas, que te ponen siempre los pelos de punta.
