Going to work with a deadly virus?

Guess what virus I am talking about? Yes, it is COVID-19. I knew you'd get it right.

Remember all the talk of how deadly it was? Me too. Remember the government finding the will and the means to shut down thousands of businesses lest the deadly virus spread? Remember that same government finding a way to diminish every property owner's rights, from sea to shining sea, by revoking the owners' right to evict non-paying renters? Me too.

But that was then, and this is now. Now infected people, or at least people displaying symptoms of the deadly virus - which can be almost any symptom of an ailment, by the way - are basically pressured to go to work. Apparently, at this point in a study on the matter 65% of low-wage workers indicating going to work with symptoms consistent with a flu or COVID. That is a little lower than 85% who did so before the pandemic - but why is that an issue at all? Isn't this a deadly virus? Aren't our government and other powers that be going all out to do all they can to stop this deadly virus in its tracks? Isn't that why for nearly two years now they have seen it fit to disrupt work and travel for millions of people, to upend the lawful order, to mandate vaccines and on and on? Well, not really. I mean, they do push vaccines - so much so, you no longer get two weeks of paid time off should you get the virus while unvaccinated, but that is about it. So should you get the deadly virus, they are actually pushing you back into the workplace - if you are paid by the hour, have no time off allowance courtesy your employer and have chosen not to take the vaccine. And the virus is so deadly that if you are a nurse, are vaccinated and test positive for it you are still asked to report to work at some hospitals - while those who are not diagnosed as carriers but have chosen not to be vaccinated are dismissed from work at the same hospitals.

So what does that look like? You decide. Personally, I am of the opinion that the powers that be absolutely do not take their own pronouncements about the deadly virus seriously, and anyone who still chooses to believe said pronouncements is either uninformed, or naive and illogical.
