Proliferation of cults - could it mean we need to have faith?

In the so-called post-modern, post-industrial society one sees massive growth in the number and scope of various collectivist movements. Some, like the whole "woke"/"politically correct" movement bear many signs of a cult. They tolerate little decent, have their saints and martyrs and clearly are more than happy to identify and pursue those they consider to the heretics.

Why is it? Don't we know enough to know the folly of it. Of course we would - if we used the knowledge available to us. But sometimes we don't. Why is it?

I think for some people faith is necessary to feel some level of comfort. And that is neither right, nor wrong, neither good, nor bad. It may just be an emotional need.

And this may be something one may want to think about. If you feel you need faith in your life, don't feel bad. Just, perhaps, be careful in choosing to whom you dedicate your faith. Don't become a victim of a cult trap.

Do your own research, use your own brain, form your own conclusions.

Everyone has faith. Even those, who do not believe in God.

That would be religion. Not faith.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

What do you consider to be the difference between faith and religion?

Religion is a defined system (for example Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism) with rules. You can have faith (for example believing in God, in Jesus) without having any religion.

I believe that a person cannot live without faith. This helps him cope with all the fears in life. And he decides what to believe.

I don't need any cult or faith, I have my brain.

Do you have the knowledge to make sense of absolutely everything, though?

Not you personally - but how does one explain that which we have no way of knowing? Like, what happens to us after death, what is the point of our existence, etc.

I believe faith is necessary but people now starting doing anything that maybe wrong but they have faith on it. I mean to say if I talk about my parents they have certain believes and they have full faith on it but now when I study those many of them are wrong. So don't do anything blindly. Generation of this era must be conscious and active about these things.
