A SHORT WALK WITH THE GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST

(Edited)

I was sitting as usual, in my old comfortable chair in front of the PC screen, selecting some recently taken photographs for one of the future posts when I heard a sudden, ghostly noise coming from the usually silent part of the house. From a room that was a bedroom once but now is filled with piles of old, obsolete stuff. When I went to check what's going on, it was soon revealed that it was a matter of cats. Two of my cats got into a short fight and displaced some old books along the way. The mystery didn't last long, but that eerie thought about ghostly, supernatural activities made me remember the first appearance of The Ghost of Christmas Past in the movie Scrooge from 1970 ...

... so I felt inspired to take a walk down a digitalized memory lane ...

... which brought me to an old folder filled with mostly forgotten photographs from 2013.

A handful of those shots were taken on Christmas.

The night shown in the photographs was foggy and dreamlike.

The decorations on the roundabout near the supermarket at the edge of town had a strong Science Fiction feel.

The atmosphere was evoking an alien invasion or some weird X-files stuff more than the traditional Christmas. Which was, and still is, fine with me.😎

It was like E.T. could appear at any moment from that fog. Or some giant three-legged fighting machines from Mars. In other words - it was great.

Most of that Christmas material was shot at night. Most, but not all.

(Enlargeable)

I caught this little red burglar earlier that day.

(Enlargeable)

It got stuck in this pose on the way out of the house and remained there till mid - January.

And that's it. I'm back in the current Christmas now. The night is foggy again, but the decorations look different. As always in these posts on HIVE, the photographs are my work - THE END.

Merry Christmas... my last post is precisely about an exploration of the beloved book and a musical special. I can recall the version you mention, though my fav is the muppets. Around the 70s there was also a shorter animated featurette that had a rather haunting ghost of the christmas past. By the way beautiful misty shots

Thanks, Merry Christmas. Yes, the Muppets are great - almost forgot about that Christmas Carol. I don't remember seeing the animated version from the 70'. Found this on youtube right now.

I like how it looks, so I'll watch it. Is this the featurette that you had in mind?

Yes this is a short feature from the '70s, it is short. I used to love the aspect of the Christmas past. Here she has the flame as in the book which is lacking in the Muppets for technical reasons. . My favorite remains the Muppets version but this one is kind of a very unknown underrated take on it. Because of nostalgia it would be worth to mention the 1951 version. And the '80s Scrooged. There was also recent animated version with Kate Winslet I love the song but not the movie full stop and then Disney 3D animated version with Jim Carrey but I didn't quite enjoy it as much as the muppets. You fucked I believe it's one of finest Caine's performances

Beautiful Christmas decorations, nicely seen through the fog as well.
