FROM THE CLOUD COLLECTOR'S DIARY

(Edited)

The cloud collector it's a weird character detached from the ground but still unable to fly. He's afraid of the heights but his head it's in the clouds quite often. In the mirror, the dude looks exactly like me. Usually sleeps in one of the many hibernation pods that host all my personalities, and gets activated only when I feel mesmerized by the beauty of colors and shapes in the sky.

Through the years he collected many clouds, and since they are caught and fixed in digital files that include the exact time and date, the collection feels a lot like a classic, handwritten diary. In this post, you can follow this journey through clouds and memories.

October the 3rd 2013. The setting sun created a lovely, hellish atmosphere above the bay.

dsc00777_malo.jpg

The clouds were nice and varied.

dsc00781_malo.jpg

It didn't last long though.

dsc00780_malo.jpg

At 7: 22 PM the sun descended behind the horizon and soon the dark replaced all these intense shades of yellow, orange & red.

dsc00262_malo.jpg

November the 7th 2013. At 5:13 PM a big cloud appeared above the port, in my hometown. It was changing pretty rapidly, and it looked like some giant creature at times. A fluffy Godzilla or something like that.

dsc00426_malo.jpg

November the 11th 2013. The blue morning started with a thick layer of clouds. I was walking along the shore at 5:57 AM.

dsc00591_malo.jpg

September the 27th 2011. The sun looked like Jupiter when seen through thin layers of clouds. I took this photograph at 8:02 PM.

dsc00594_malo.jpg

Half an hour later, at 8:30, the sun through the clouds looked like this.

dsc00813_malo.jpg

April the 10th 2009. 7:14 PM.

The thin red line before the dark.

dsc00814_malo.jpg

A bit of fire in the sky.

dsc00810_samo_malo.jpg

Distant islands on the alien horizon.

dsc00811_samo_malo.jpg

The world was strange and cool in those elusive moments just after the sunset.

dsc00818_malo.jpg

The clouds were pretty compact and heavy above the shallow water of the bay, here in my hometown.

dsc00929_malo.jpg

December the 31st 2014. Another New Year's eve.

dsc00931_malo.jpg

UFO appeared above the bay of Medulin.

dsc00932_mallo.jpg

Medulin is the name of my hometown, and the UFO was just a cloud of course.

dsc00942_malo.jpg

I spent the evening near the sea ...

dsc00950_samo_malo.jpg

... and I photographed some pretty cool clouds at the end of that year.

dsc00948_malo.jpg

The one that looked like some extraterrestrial vessel was probably the highlight of the entire 2014 when it comes to celestial stuff.

dsc01008_mallo.jpg

October the 10th 2010. Some fluffy clouds created a distant landscape in the sky at 5:03 PM.

dsc01044_malo.jpg

October the 13th 2009. The clouds formed these neat stripes that look great in photographs.

May the 1st 2015. Some photogenic clouds early in the morning, in the bay of Medulin.

Here you can see the clouds above the small island called Finera.

September the 12th 2013. The cloudy evening sky above the coast near the village called Shishan, about five-six kilometers from my hometown.

January the 1st 2015. Near Shishan again.

March the 6th 2015.

The partially cloudy sky is reflected in the shallow water of a small, muddy inlet near the village called Liznjan, a couple of kilometers from where I live.

dsc01460_malo.jpg

January the 16th 2009. A ring of white clouds above the port of Medulin.

dsc01466_malo.jpg

Some more clouds from that day.

... on the shore not far from Shishan.

dsc02487_malo.jpg

June the 2nd 2014. The clouds formed a lovely texture in the sky ...

dsc02485_malo.jpg

... above the abandoned stone quarry near Liznjan.

dsc02838_malo.jpg

June the 3rd 2014. ... in the same area.

(Enlargeable)

June the 27th 2015. An interesting formation of some small clouds that look like brush strokes on the background made of thick, compact cloudy canvas.

dsc03246_malo.jpg

More clouds from that same day.

June the 29th 2015.

An airplane is passing across the small clearance surrounded by clouds ...

dsc03319_malo.jpg

... leaving the white trail behind.

dsc06582_malo.jpg

July the 26th 2017 ... in my neighborhood.

dsc06583_malo.jpg

Five or ten minutes before the summer storm.

dsc06584_malo.jpg

The clouds looked very cool on that occasion.

dsc06801_malo.jpg

August the 3rd 2009. The clouds and the clear summer sky created a lovely interplay of blue and white.

dsc07168_malo.jpg

July the 25th 2015.

dsc07182_malo.jpg

The sky looked great on that hot summer evening.

dsc07169_malo.jpg

It was mostly blue ...

dsc07171_malo.jpg

... with small touches of heavenly white.

dsc07185_malo.jpg

Some clouds looked like snowy peaks of distant mountains.

dsc07180_malo.jpg

Others were like visible fragments of some giant animal hidden behind a blue curtain.

dsc07190_malo.jpg

I was walking along the shore ...

dsc07174_malo.jpg

... a couple of kilometers from Liznjan ...

dsc07173_malo.jpg

... five or six kilometers from home ...

dsc07172_malo.jpg

... under the wide and dynamic sky.

dsc09053_malo.jpg

September the 5th 2015.

dsc09057_malo.jpg

The clouds looked great around noon.

dsc09056_malo.jpg

I was laying on the warm coastal rocks ...

dsc09062_malo.jpg

... for an hour at least.

dsc09072_malo.jpg

It was an hour well spent ...

dsc09055_malo.jpg

... on the trip through the clouds.

dsc09067_malo.jpg

The same clouds ...

dsc09069_malo.jpg

... weren't actually the same.

dsc09073_malo.jpg

They were changing too rapidly to become boring.

dsc09058_malo.jpg

It was like visiting some majestic fantasy land ...

dsc09059_malo.jpg

... in which the landscape was being constantly reshaped.

dsc09064_malo.jpg

It was beautiful to look at ...

dsc09061_malo.jpg

... and a bit scary as well.

dsc09079_malo.jpg

Everything was so deep and massive ...

dsc09074_malo.jpg

... like when you looking at the precipice.

dsc09051_malo.jpg

There wasn't anything solid to bring back home from this voyage ...

dsc09054_malo.jpg

... but fortunately ...

dsc09077_malo.jpg

... my camera was there with me.

dsc09080_malo.jpg

I had a small compact camera back then, in 2015 ...

dsc09070_malo.jpg

... so I was able to take a bunch of photographs ...

dsc09078_malo.jpg

... and use them as souvenirs.

(Enlargeable)

I caught some birds in one of those photographs.

dsc09052_malo.jpg

The day was pretty hot ...

dsc09083_mallo.jpg

... so I jumped in the sea when I left the clouds.

dsc09084_malo.jpg

Later, in the evening, I was walking along the seaside promenade in my hometown.

dsc09096_malo.jpg

The clouds were still interesting ...

dsc09095_malo.jpg

... and I stayed there until the day got completely dark.

dsc09769mjesc_malo.jpg

August the 19th 2013. Late in the evening. I was watching the moon that looked like a UFO on its way through the delicate veils made of some cloudy material.

dsc09901_malo.jpg

August the 23rd 2013. I was watching the lovely moon late in the morning. Three small clouds were present in the scene.

dsc09946_samo_malo.jpg

August the 25th 2013. I saw a massive cloud behind some barren shrubs that got caught in the recent fire. I mean, the fire was recent back then, in 2013.

dsc09953_malo.jpg

August the 26th 2013 ... in the evening.

dsc09960_malo.jpg

Plenty of beautiful clouds ...

dsc09968_malo.jpg

... and a dissolving contrail ...

dsc09957_malo.jpg

... above the scenic stretch of coastline ...

dsc09948_malo.jpg

... about five kilometers from the village that goes by the name of Shishan.

dsc09969_malo.jpg

I stayed there ...

dsc09971_malo.jpg

... until the sun disappeared.

dsc09975_malo.jpg

July the 28th 2018.

dsc09976_malo.jpg

Another evening by the sea.

dsc09972_malo.jpg

Airplanes were flying as usual ...

dsc09973_malo.jpg

... and I went walking the cloud-paved road above my head.

dsc09982_malo.jpg

At the sunset ...

dsc09977_malo.jpg

... I was who knows where.

(Enlargeable)

August the 27th 2011. Another summer storm was on the way.

img_6410_malo.jpg

August the 22nd 2019. A glimpse of red sunset through a layer of evening clouds.

And that's it. Hope you enjoyed this guided visit to the cloud collector's private collection. As always in these posts on HIVE, the photographs are my work - THE END.

you are really serious when it comes to cloud photo hunting, i think almost no one thinks to collect every cloud photo, very commendable work.

They are stunning @borjan… your clouds collection. I know the feeling / idea of our digital files with date and time stamps over the years being like a classic, handwritten diary. I look at my photos like that too.
Clouds do fascinate me… ever changing. Magical world above us. I collect them too. I have many photographs of them. Changing in moments, showing other details I pick up. During any time of the day.
Liked the feet silhouette in them 😉

Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your private collection. (You did inspire me though… I have to look into my cloud collection and maybe will post some soon)

It probably looks strange... but most of all I liked that photo of you, in which a stormy sky hung over stone houses. This is a combination of natural thunder, power, and man-made human shelter, which allows us to resist the forces of Nature.
