GREETINGS FROM MY HOMETOWN IN THE WINTER OF 2013

The photographs in this post were taken some years ago, in the winter of 2013. The main protagonist is Medulin, my hometown, but ...

... but in this opening shot, you are looking at something else. This is a silhouette of Premantura, the village across the bay. The evening photograph was taken from the harbor in Medulin.

And this is Medulin. I mean, not the entire thing. Just the main street that leads from the old town to the new neighborhoods & supermarkets on the outskirts. The previous sentence may sound like my hometown has a large suburban area and many stores. But is nothing like that. There is a fairly small area with some new apartment buildings and two supermarkets built next to each other.

This buoy in the harbor was photographed early in the morning. It looks kinda mysterious, almost like an abstraction, in the calm, shallow waters of the bay.

This photograph was taken even earlier in the morning, on the stretch of the road near the main square of the old town.

Here you can see some Eurasian coots (Fulica atra) on the pretty large pond that looks like a small lake. That pond isn't far from my house. A little bit more than a hundred meters, something like that.

Here you can see one of the chimneys of my neighborhood. It looks fairly photogenic - I mean, that's only my opinion.

(Enlargeable)

This is one of the streetlamps on the seaside promenade, the most visited part of Medulin, especially in summer.

This giant fish was swimming by the facade of a restaurant situated in the first line of buildings on the aforementioned promenade.

Since the post started with Premantura, I think that another look at the silhouette of that picturesque village could give a fitting closure to the post.

AND THAT'S IT. HOPE YOU ENJOYED THESE FRAGMENTS OF MY HOMETOWN. AS ALWAYS HERE ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK. THE END.

Hey, what great shots you made once again. I really love that region and the old stone houses, although I cannot imagine how the smoke will find its way in this chimney? ;-) and how about Santa would an American say. But thats why we here in Europa dont have Santas! Our Christmas Child can fly through every little opened window ;-)
Thank you for posting to IYC Communita !LUV

Hehehehe yes, that kind of chimney would be a real nightmare for Santa. Only a shape-shifter Santa could enter after turning into a snake. 😃 Windows are definitively better for Christmas creatures and Christmas spirits.

I'm sure I'll never get to Croatia, but I feel I know the place from your many blogs :)
