Wednesday walk - THE FASHION WALK
This long walk all around the main square of the town called Umag, in the northern part of the Istra peninsula, near the border with Slovenia, happened in the year 2011 ...

... and ended on the narrow path covered with red carpet ...

... lovely like a fresh trail of blood ...
... seen through the vampire's eyes.
But let's start from the beginning :)
With the team building in the early afternoon...
... and the subsequent preparations.
Here is a little detail from the curtain - like skirt you just saw one photograph, and small fraction of time, before ... a short distraction before ...
... many makeup action shots.
I'm warning you ... if you have any kind of problem with makeup ... or any kind of exotic, bizarre phobia concerning these stuff ... stop reading, stop watching - stop scrolling this thing now!
But if you just can't get enough of girls doing makeup - this is your post ... your candy store and dream that almost came true.
Sometimes a monochrome vision can add a bit of drama and make the picture look timeless ...
... so I took the colors out of this picture.

I'm talking pretty vaguely about the event ... and I actually, said little or nothing till now ...
... so maybe ...
... is time to say a few words about how all this happens to be.
I was invited by a friend ( You can see her on this picture) who isn't much into the fashion at all ... but likes artsy and bizarre things, plays a lot of video games and watches a lot of cool and imaginative Japanese cartoons ...
... her friend ( You can see her on this photograph) which I had never met before ... and who is also into those cool artsy - pop culture things, but also into the fashion, and reinterprets the fashion through this sensibility ...
... had the opportunity to show her work and ideas in one pretty conventional, a bit stiff, summer event on the main square of that lovely, seaside town.
So she congregated a colorful group of friends ... and friends of those friends ... of various heights, shapes, and sizes ...
... to help her bring this vision to life.
I was there with my small compact camera ...

... to catch some funny moments ...
... some lovely portraits ...
... and various ...
... interesting little details ...
... from behind the scenes mostly.
As I said before ...
... this was a very colorful ...
... gang of models ...
... with lots of character.
On this greenish night shot of poor quality, made in some night vision wannabe option of my cheap camera, you can see the clear contrast between them and the rest of the fashion show crowd :)
I'm starting to realize :) that I didn't upload a makeup action shot for quite some time now ...
... so ... :D ...
... is time for another series ...
... of this kind of photographs ...
... followed ...
... by some smokey situations ...
... during the cigarette breaks.
It looks a bit like something out of a different, much older era ...

Although this was mostly a ton of fun for all the participants ...
... the day was long ...
... with a lot of things that had to be done ...
... so I caught a few tired faces ...
... during the shooting.
But for most of the time ...
... things looked like this ...

... when the night brought the refreshing darkness on the scene ...
... it was the red carpet time.
The walk continued ...
... along the fashion catwalk.
He, he ... but not for me of course ...
... I was standing ...
... relatively still ...
... among the crowd in the audience ...
... taking shots from that, more detached, prospective.
Here ... with the fashion show still going on ... we are connected to the beginning of the post ... which usually means that we are near the end ... because I like to build never ending, looping photo - stories, nicely encircled like a serpent that bites its own tail ...
... but this time it isn't so.
The walk continues ...
... through the night ...
... trough the happy and relaxed ...
... summer streets ...
... in the good company ...
... of some little rascals :) ...
... the famous Hamster Sisters ...
... and other cool characters ... like this appropriately fluffy little dog ...
... and the lovely Beetlejuice Girl.
Summer nights ...
... are considerably shorter ...
... than the hot summer days ...
... and with all that darkness around ...
... there aren't many opportunities to take a decent shot ...
... for a guy with just a cheap compact camera and no external flash at hand :)
So now ...
... with these last few ...
... gloomy ... low quality ... photographs ...
... this Wednesday Catwalk really ends.
