What is Universal Basic Income?
Wikipedia describes it as follows:

Universal basic income (UBI) is a sociopolitical financial transfer policy proposal in which all citizens of a given population regularly receive a legally stipulated and equally set financial grant paid by the government without a means test.

HSBI is something great for anyone who wants to create more content on Hive. It doesn't help you if you don't stick around and its another reason to be active here. I find that the Hive social system is great.

Therefore it is not a basic income. The basic income is something that you automatically (unconditionally) receive. Without requiring you to do anything. The interest from the Hive Dollar (HBD) savings are more like that.

I find that the Hive social system is great.

It is. But this project should not be called basic income. This title is technically misleading in this case. It requires active participation. A real basic income does not require active participation. By the definition of the Cambridge Dictionary, the basic income is unconditional.

Do not get me wrong. I like the Hive Basic Income program. I have HSBI shares. But this is simply not a basic income by definition.

Hoho, this sounds fun!!! Wait a minute don't you ever think I don't want to be a part of this because I just joined the party, hehe.

I remember I first heard of this all thanks to @dreemsteem and a few others and I did get some HSBI and it was just amazing how it works.

I've not invested so much in it yet but I hope I get to 🥰.

HBI does not make your content dry, in other words, for a hustler, for a consistent content creator, it pays...and in the long run, it becomes a part of generational wealth, even more so, it invokes the concept of fraternity where everyone wins.

It is great that you are initiating this again. When HIVE was still steem (before everything went south) me and my local enthusiasts were promoting like wild. It wasn't just about the token because we were hoping to sustain a network of locals where we could call friends and support each other. However because of constant market crash, and especially those who are unable to keep up with consistent blogging at the time, local witnesses were very hard to sustain, drama (steem) sets in, everyone decided to part ways, with a small amount still trying to survive with the bit of HIVE income to fill in the missing basic income that we don't have.
I'd like to see how you are going to revive this. Hopefully, there will be a long-term self-sustaining system with a consistent, less volatile price change to enable people to see this as something worth maintaining and not just robbing it for mere profit.

Amazing! Feels more like financing dreams than socialism. I love it!

If I could share my dream project: I wish I had more time to focus on building a Decentralised Physical Community. It's a community that uses blockchain technology to run a corruption free community at every level.

I wrote a few blogs on this but havnt had thr time to expand the ideas as I'm busy with my exams at the moment. This post just reminded me how important the work is, for me anyway. Thank you
