Those who have done the nation proud on many occasion really needs to be recognized and honoured. When we are talking of those who have made this nation proud in sport, athletes who have carried the flag of this country and waved it high in the sky, winning trophies upon trophies with it, we will surely mention Mrs Oby Solaja, a Nigerian female badminton player who has won many laurel in the field.

The new cap added to her feather is 2019 African Women In Badminton Award presented to her.

Many don't really know this women and the sacrifices she has made for the country, it will interest you to know that this woman was one of the first to play badminton in Nigeria. Also gets to win gold severally.

when she won three gold medals in the Africa Senior Championship in 1996 , Women Singles , Women Doubles and mix Doubles. Solaja is a seven-time African Women Champion, 10-time Nigerian Champion and a piooner player at the Olympics.

The minister for youth and sport in Nigeria Mr Sunday Dare has laud her with praises for been a shining light to many Athletes coming up and to sports in general.

Though because of the pandemic, the award hasn't been presented.
