Happy as hellish bent devil
Sad as a defeated soldier
The war of life not won
As men run off
Looking for cover
The war isn't over
Banking on hope victory
Waiting on recon troops
Death came closer
To surrender is imminent
Mauling over another
Bothered by untimely death
None wished this for himself
The hunger to go home
Be safe under your mama's bed
The longing of peace
Walk the streets with open chest
The plan to build from ruins
Cities out of bombarded realm
All this makes us want to go home
Culled from a life well spent.

Bringing the war deeper home
Demoralised, fainting along the road
Bomb scared, shelling on the way
Dead bodies littered street
Men opting for death so quick
Than been maimed
Blown into the wind
Grenades flying high
None knows who will blast
Back home, we walk free
Rested mind.
