A Big Weekend for the Lasers
My niece continues to roll towards the end of her fall softball season like a unstoppable freight train on a mission to deliver the goods. There wasn't a ton to be excited about this weekend when it comes to sports teams. At least the ones I follow. I will cover more of that later this week, but quick recap is the fact that Michigan State lost and more surprisingly, The Lions lost. It was quite hard to watch.
The Ohio Lasers Scarlet is the one bright spot in all of that. They still had some setbacks this weekend, but they also had a lot of things to be proud of.
My niece hit .400 on he weekend and she had one game where she hit two homeruns in the same game. In fact, they lost their first game on Saturday, tied their second game, and then had a lopsided 18 to 0 win in their third game of the day.
On Sunday, they started off the day with another huge run rule win. That was the game where she hit two home runs. In fact, they had several players in that game hit back to back home runs. Finally, their last game on Sunday was a close loss after letting the other team get a big jump on them.
I'm really proud of how she continues to grow and excel. Her sister is working towards a new position on her University team and I am sure when she gets her feet under her, she will pick back up where she left off as well.
I also heard this weekend that my nephews football team made the playoffs, so I am super excited for him about that. Apparently, he made a huge defensive play at some point in the game that really helped direct the course of the game.
I'm really proud of how well he is doing and the hard work he is putting. His little brother has been on a team that hasn't had a lot of success this year, but as a stand alone player, he has also been growing and improving. He is just naturally athletica and I have a feeling he will excel at whatever sport he decides to focus on.
I think my niece has one more home tournament this coming weekend before she heads to Tennessee for their last games of the season. I am sure she is probably a bit excited to play down south again. It's been getting quite cold up here and she likes the warmer weather.
