Absolute Bombs!

It's looking to be a full week of softball for my nieces. My wife and I were planning on watching my younger nieces game yesterday via streaming, but the Columbus area of Ohio was staring down the barrel of some pretty severe storms, so they cancelled the game.

I've seen these young ladies play in some pretty adverse conditions, but I don't think they signed up for tornadoes. Thankfully, the weather didn't get that bad and they were able to play their regularly scheduled game last night.

@mrsbozz talked to her sister and she mentioned that their opponent was a team they haven't faced in a couple of years so it was good to go head to head with them again. In case you missed it, the Lady Shamrocks have been on a bit of a tear to start the year.

In their first three games of the regular season, they put up a total of something like 56 runs before having a close 3 to 2 victory over their fourth adversary.

Last night was another close game that ended in a 6 to 5 win for the "Rocks" over Central Crossing. There were two key highlights in the game for me. The first would be my niece hitting a home run dead straight into center field. It was a thing of beauty and despite the 6 runs it was the only home run of the game for the Shamrocks.

Unfortunately, it was a solo shot, but a run is run. This was a really good thing for my niece because over the last several games she has been getting walked a lot. In fact, her first two at bats of this game resulted in walks.

You see, these young ladies often know each other through travel softball, so it's not lost on them who they should throw at and who they should avoid. Being able to get her bat on a ball was something my niece has been wanting for a while now.

Also, she was a key component in the final out of the game. The last batter hit a solid ball right at her short stop position. She fielded it cleanly and got it to first base in plenty of time to pin a button on this game and chalk it up as win.

I'm so proud of this young lady. She continues to amaze me on and off the field. She has another game tonight, then a double header on Saturday. Meanwhile, her older sister who is equally as impressive has her own double header this weekend with her university team at Ohio Dominican University.

@mrsbozz and I were supposed to be heading down to Ohio this weekend to watch the games, but due to some issues with our dog Jovi we are going to be staying home instead.
