Catching some Baseball!

I finally got to watch a little bit of Detroit Tigers baseball the other day. I was flipping through the channels when I noticed that they were airing the game on my local affiliate station. That is a pretty rare occurrence these days, and I think it had more to do with the fact that the Tigers were playing the Twins than anything.

There is zero chance the local Fox station would be showing the Tigers just for the Tigers sake. No, I am sure it had everything to do with the fact that the Twins are sitting at the top of the AL Central.

In fact, @mrsbozz came out into the living room at one point, saw I was watching the Tigers and said "how are we getting this?".

Despite the fact that the Tigers are 34-43 and sitting just a pinch above the White Sox in their division, it was still a really good game.

They had this twelve year old on the mound that was absolutely dealing. I'm joking of course, but man that kid looked young. He has that rosy Jeremy Bonderman complexion that makes him look a lot younger than he probably is.

I think he was a rookie though, so he could still be quite young. What do I know, this is the first Tigers game I have been able to watch all year!

Detroit won that game 3 - 2. I didn't get to see the end of it. I was getting the TV ready so I could stream my nieces softball game and lifelong Tigers fan or not, that always takes precedence.

Heck, the Tigers could be in the World Series and I would still rather watch my nieces.

It's crazy to think we are just about halfway through the season now. Detroit needs to start turning the corner and putting on the afterburners if they want to have a chance of making a wildcard spot. Right now I am thinking that is the only way they might get into the playoffs.

Speaking of Tigers...

If you have been watching the college world series, that finished up last night. After a massive beat down from Florida the night before, LSU, stormed back and took the series last night. I saw an article where they were hypothesizing if Baton Rouge is the new championship city.

I think that is a bit premature. Sure, the women's basketball team won a title, and now the men's baseball team, but to imply that LSU is going to actually win anything else is a bit of a stretch. It's not like they have been dominant for years like Oklahoma softball, Alabama football, or Duke basketball.

They just aren't there yet.

That's my opinion anyway.

Tampa Bay is still leading the American League with 54 wins. Nobody is really even close to them right now. Over in the National League, Atlanta is sitting at the top with 51 wins. Arizona is behind them just a little bit with 47 wins. Just below that we have Miami with 45. Could you imagine a Miami/Tampa Bay World series.

That would be pretty epic for Florida am I right?

Who are you cheering for this season?
