College Softball World Series: The Stage is set

After a frantic weekend of softball, the stage is finally set for the College Softball World Series. If you recall, we started this process a couple of weeks ago with 64 teams making it into the bracket.

After a ton of crazy and exciting games, we finally find ourselves at the finals. The action starts tomorrow night in a best of three series to determine who will be the champion.

Let's take a step back a few days and look at how we got here.

On Friday morning, Washington beat Utah and then Oklahoma beat Utah to knock them out of the running. Stanford went on to hand Alabama their second loss and knock them out of the running as well.

If you know me, you know that Alabama getting eliminated couldn't happen soon enough. They have highly regarded pitcher in Montana Fouts, but I don't think Alabama deserved to be seeded as highly as they were. I've been over that a million times now. I'm not going to beat a dead horse anymore.

Plus, they are out, so who cares at this point.

Saturday Oklahoma put a beating down on Tennessee 9 to 0 to send them to an auxiliary game against Oklahoma State. Additionally, Florida State took out Washington 3 to 1. I watched that game and it looked like Washington was going to have some late game heroics to win, but then they ended up falling short.

Stanford beat Washington 1 to 0 in a pitchers duel that sent them back to the west coats. Then Tennessee beat Oklahoma State to send them on the short drive home.

Last night, Oklahoma eliminated Stanford and Florida State took down Tennessee to setup the first game of the finals that will take place on Wednesday night.

It's been an exciting tournament up to this point. I didn't get to watch nearly as much as I had hoped, but I still watched a lot more games than I normally do. Being able to see softball at this level is a pretty awesome experience.

I'd love to make it to a DI game someday. Perhaps if Michigan State ever gets good I can do that.

Softball is a great sport to watch and if you think baseball is too slowly paced, I think you might enjoy softball. It still has the same basic principles, but the pace is definitely a bit quicker.

You better believe I will be back with an update later in the week about the winner. I think this is going to be a pretty good matchup. Oklahoma is an amazing team, but Florida State has some grit that I think gives them a slight edge. They are definitely the ones with less to lose.

That could be too much pressure for Oklahoma.

I like Oklahoma, but I have to go with Florida State, Haven't we been here before? Maybe in 2021? The Sooners are a force to be reckoned with, so I hope they don't underestimate them.

I've got the peanuts and crackerjack all set up and ready to go!

May the best team win!

For sure! It should be a pretty good match up. I am looking forward to seeing how it all pans out. It should be a good two or three days of softball either way!
