Lady Lasers go 2 - 3 in Indy

It was a tough weekend for the ladies down in Indianapolis. They not only had to deal with some stiff competition, they were also faced with the fury of Mother Nature. What should have been a weekend full of softball for many of the teams in Indy, turned into a bit of a farce.

This is the second tournament in a row that bracket play on Sunday has been scrapped because they weren't able to get the appropriate number of pool play games in. @mrsbozz and I didn't travel down to Indy, but from what I hear the weather was horrible.

When it wasn't raining, it wanted to and the heat and humidity was just miserable.

Despite all of that, the Lady Lasers did get to play five games, and "that isn't nothing" as they say.

As you probably read in my post last week, they were supposed to have two games on Thursday, but they only played one. It ended up being a 0 to 5 loss to the Ohio Hawks team.

I've said before that the ladies seem to have a bit of trouble that first game, and this was no exception.

The game they were supposed to play later that day got moved to Sunday. Actually, it got moved a couple of times, but because the weather kept interfering, it eventually ended up on Sunday.

Friday they were only slated to have one game and that was a 7 to 1 victory over the Indiana Shockwaves Beres. My wife and I got to watch that game via streaming while we were enjoying a couple of beers on a patio. It was a beautiful afternoon!

Saturday should have been full of games, but they only played one against the Indiana Gators Shappell team. It ended up being a 4 to 3 victory for the Lasers.

Then, on Sunday they were finally able to get a couple of games in. I have a feeling by then the ladies were probably just about over it.

The lost the first game against Indiana Shockwaves Tesnar 3 to 9. If you recall, that is the game that was supposed to happen on Thursday. They had a lot of errors and I think it could have been a win-able game for them.

Finally, they faced The BNGSA Angels for their last game on Sunday and ended up falling short 1 to 2. It was a really close game and I think if they had a little more energy they could have won.

In all, I think it was a bit of a disappointing outing for the ladies. I know they can do better and I think they know it too. It has to be hard to get momentum going when you keep having all of these rain delays though.

Perhaps they will have better luck this coming weekend when they stay local for a tournament in the greater Columbus area.
