As I mentioned last week, my niece went with her travel team from Ohio down to Roanoke Virginia to play some softball in the World Series Class A Championship. There were teams from all over the area ready and willing to compete for the title.

The action got started on the 19th with a couple of really good wins over a team from Georgia and another team from Virginia.

Then on Thursday they had a single game where they won 9 to 1. Since this was a double elimination tournament, they were cruising along pretty well. This put them in a really good position for the rest of the touranament.

Friday was another day with just a single game and they won that game 3 to 2. As you have seen, the competition was pretty stiff and some of he games were quite close.

Saturday was a big day for the Lady Lasers with three games on the books. They won the first one 4 to 3 and then lost the second one 6 to 9. Finally, their last game of the day was a big win for the Lasers 8 to 4.

This put them into the elite eight where they had their first game at 8:00 on Sunday morning. As you can see from the photos, the backdrop was pretty amazing.

Can you imagine playing in a field like this with the mountains in the background? I think I would have a hard time focusing on the game! Good thing I don't play softball.

Unfortunately, on Sunday they had a tough loss 1 to 11. It ended up being a team from North Carolina that won their pool.

My niece and her family then packed up their car and started the 10 hour drive to where we are on a family location. They rolled in around 11:30 PM last night and they were all just ready for bed.

My niece hasn't even gotten up yet this morning, but in talking to her last night she said that her batting average for the whole season was .412.

Pretty freaking awesome!

Tonight my nephews have their first playoff games of the season. I look forward to hearing how well they do!

I will be posting more about that later in the week.
