Lady Rocks have another heartbreaker

It seems like a bit of the magic has worn off the Shamrocks softball team, Just a week or two ago I was celebrating the fact that they had put up 56 runs across three games and now they are on a two game losing streak.

My brother in law mentioned that this was probably going to be a tough season for the ladies, but he said that about the basketball team too and I feel they did very well. Plus, the fact that they started off the season so strong had me thinking he might have been wrong.

Then again, it could have just been some strategic scheduling on the part of the coach. You want to sprinkle those games in there that you know you can win.

To be fair, the ladies probably should have won the game last night. My niece has been struggling with her hitting, but that is just one piece of a larger puzzle. In fact, hitting wasn't even the problem last night. The Rocks had 7 runs and were up something like 7 to 4 going into the 7th inning.

The problem last night was two fold in my opinion. First, their defense wasn't playing as tight as we have seen them play in the past. Consistent pitching has been a part of that as well. Second, they had some questionable base running that I personally hold the coach accountable for.

They are the one who tells them when to run and when to stop. There was zero reason the opponent should have been able to double up on them in the 6th inning. There was a play in the third base no man's land that never should have happened because the runner shouldn't have been told to go.

My niece is a lot like my wife, so I knew after this game it was best to just leave her be and not even text her. It's not like I sit and critique her, but I also know she doesn't want to sit and talk about it.

@mrsbozz did reach out to her and as of this morning she still hadn't hear back. I'm not surprised at all :)

The 5-4 lady rocks are back in action tonight against a Hilliard Davidson team that is also 5-4, so hopefully they can have some better luck tonight.

Meanwhile, my other niece has a double header today at noon and 2 PM against one of the better teams in their league. It will be interesting to see how the Lady Dragons adjust this year and if Hillsdale University is as good as they were last year.

Next week I get to head back to our local minor league park for a baseball game on Friday night. I am looking forward to that! It's usually a great time with some decent food and good beer.

Division 1 women's softball is humming right along too. My wife and I have been watching a few of the games here and there. As I said in the post from my main @bozz account today, we are just trying to do what we can to keep ourselves busy after the loss of our beloved dog.

Michigan State had a tough loss to their instate rival Michigan taking the 5 to 11 beating.

I'll probably cover more of the D1 University games tomorrow as well as my nieces games. I'm still trying to find a good site to follow all of this since Yahoo Sports seems to want to bury college softball.
