Little League World Series comes to an end

In case you missed it, the Little League World Series has been taking place and yesterday it finally came to a most epic conclusion! I've gotta be honest with you, I haven't been following too closely and I am actually one of the people who probably would have missed it.

My father in law on the other hand has been watching it religiously and he has been filling me in on all of the details. Which is funny, because he isn't much of a baseball fan, but there is something about the LLWS that always grabs his attention.

I got the chance to watch a good portion of the title game yesterday and I must admit, it certainly didn't disappoint.

I'm not going to bore you with the whole bracket of 64 teams or whatever it actually was, but you should know that The Southwest team battled through some tough competition from the Southeast, Midwest, Great Lakes, and Mid Atlantic to face off against the West team who had their own gauntlet to run.

Ultimately, the West team beat the Southwest team to go head to head with the Caribbean team from Curacao. They had their own unique path to this point battling the likes of Japan, Mexico, Canada, Latin America and a handful of other countries to meet up with Asia-Pacific in the semi finals.

Obviously they beat Asia-Pacific to take on the West team in the finals.

It was a pretty exciting game.

West was winning 5 to 1 when in the fourth or fifth inning they had to change pitchers. The relief pitcher gave up a couple of walks before they pulled him and put another player in. Ultimately, the bases got loaded and one of the players from Curacao hit a grand slam home run tying up the game.

The game went into extra innings before the West won the game with a walk off home run. The final score was six to five. I've actually become more of a softball guy over the past couple of years than baseball, but I still enjoy the game. The fact that my nephews are playing will probably have me watching more games than I have in the past.

Either way, this was quite the end to what has been a long season for these kids. Now they get to go home and start back up with school. At least the US kids anyway. Those kids from Asia probably go to school year round!

Oh cool, I watched the MLB little league classic game from that ballpark a couple of weeks ago. It was Washington vs Philly I think. Fun game to watch.

Ah yeah, I know what you are talking about. I was traveling, but I saw that they were going to play it. Fun stuff!

I was this year years old when I found out what a walkoff victory actually is in baseball. :)
