Multiview for the win! Thanks Youtube TV!

I have to hand it to them, despite the constant price increases, YouTube TV really knocked it out of the park with the recent addition of the Multiview option. They piloted it during the NCAA basketball tournament last year, but they have went full speed ahead with it this football season.

If you read my post last week, you know that there were a number of games that I wanted to keep my eye on this weekend. After getting back from watching my nephews play basketball on Saturday morning, I settled into the couch and got ready to take in some football.

I've gotta be honest, the Michigan/Penn State game didn't really go the way I had hoped, but with their coach being banned from the game it is just as well. If they would have lost, they would have blamed the conference and everyone else they could think of about why it wasn't really their fault. That's just how Michigan fans are.

Michigan State fans make no arguments about how much our team needs to improve. Although, they didn't look too horrible against Ohio State. Sure, Ohio State dominated, but they had some good defensive plays and they didn't look totally inept.

The games that I thought were going to be really good, certainly didn't disappoint. That Indiana/Illinois game was one of the big surprises for me though. It was just thrilling to watch. Just looking at the score 48 to 45 overtime win by Illinois tells you a lot about the game right there.

One of the biggest upsets of the day was Texas Tech taking down #16 Kansas, and the Maryland win over Nebraska was just a bit heart breaking for the Cornhuskers. They started out the season so strong...

Michigan beat Penn State 24 to 15, but the Nittany Lions didn't make it easy on them. Alabama rolled over Kentucky 49 to 21 and I have to be honest, I thought Kentucky would put up more of a fight on that one.

Probably my favorite games of the day were the Florida State/Miami game and the Utah/Washington game. They were thrilling and had so much back and forth action that you were literally on the edge of your seat the whole game.

Unfortunately, the Tennessee/Missouri game turned out to be a bit of a snooze fest. It was close at first, but then the Tigers just ran away with it.

Props to UCF for taking down #15 Oklahoma State 45 to 3. That's just embarrassing.

Like I said, Michigan State fans are at least smart enough to admit when we are bad. That 38 to 3 loss to Ohio State is nothing to be proud of, but there were some good plays by the defense and the quarter back that I think point towards us heading in the right direction.

TCU gave #7 Texas a fit falling just four points shy of beating them. Congrats Texas on the 29 to 26 win. Finally, I would be remiss to mention the double overtime game between Duke and #24 North Carolina that saw the Tar Heels coming away with the 47 to 45 win.

I'd be stupid to say the highlight of my weekend wasn't the big Lions win on Sunday, but man, I feel like it should have been a lot easier for them than that. It felt a little bit like the old Lions for a bit there getting the last minute win on a field goal to take down the Chargers 41 to 38. Defense needs to step up. They are better than this. I know they are. They need to show it.

Chicago had a much needed win over Carolina beating them 16 to 13. There were actually a lot of really close games this weekend. The Colts by 4 points over New England, Houston by 3 points over Cincinnati, Pittsburgh by four points over Green Bay.

The Browns also had a close 3 point win over Baltimore. Let's not forget Arizona over Atlanta by 2 points.

I think Dallas had the biggest blowout this weekend with a 49 to 17 win over The Giants. Seattle beat Washington by 3 points and Las Vegas beat the Jets by 4 points. Finally, we have the heartbreaking 2 point loss by The Bills last night to Denver. I didn't watch the game, but I heard there was a bit of controversy.

It sounds like penalties were a problem for a lot of teams this weekend. For a while there it felt like the old Lions where the officials were calling pretty much everything against them. I bet a lot of other teams felt the same...
