NCAA Week 4/NFL Week 3 Recap: Is it Basketball Season Yet?

It was a rough day in the @bozz household on Saturday. As I mentioned in my post yesterday, we spent most of the day down in Ohio watching my niece play softball. Let me follow up on that quickly. I just got word from my other niece that she has received her first offer from a university to play softball for them. She is going to wait of course and see what other offers she might get, but this is still really exciting for her. I am so proud of all my nieces and nephews and everything that they continue to accomplish.

The one thing I am not proud of is the Michigan State Spartans. Talk about absolute trash. They played horrible on Saturday. I rushed home from Ohio so I could watch the game only to be disappointed over and over again. They had so many errors it was almost like they were handing the game to Maryland. I mean no disrespect to Maryland, but dang, The Spartans just sucked. It put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day.

Other notable games include an overtime win by #5 Florida State against Clemson 31 to 24.

I think we know by now, they are all cupcake games at this point, but Nebraska is now 2-2 on the season. That's not too bad given how they have been doing the last decade or so. They might even have a chance if they play Michigan State this year. @gooddream should be happy about that.

It's going to be a tough run for them next week against Michigan though.

It was actually a pretty generic weekend as far as games go besides MSU screwing the pooch. #13 LSU almost fell to Arkansas, but were able to pull out the victory 34 to 31.

Likewise, #16 Washington State narrowly beat out #19 Oregon State 38 to 35.

I should point out that Northwestern beat Minnesota in overtime 37 to 34 and Indiana needed 4 overtimes to beat Akron 29 to 27. Ouch! They got the win though which is more than I can say for the Spartans.

In case you weren't sure, I am pretty bitter.

I'd also like to point out the fact that Penn State held Iowa scoreless. That could be a big deal, so I would encourage you to remember that moving forward. I am sure it hasn't been lost on @enforcer48.

I didn't watch the game, but from what I heard, the #4 Ohio State game versus #11 Notre Dame was quite good.

On the NFL side of things, the big news from the weekend was the fact that Taylor Swift was at the Chiefs game to watch Kelce. No lie. That's all anyone is talking about. I mean I get it, Taylor is great, but wow, there were 15 other games this week!

Most notably, the recovery by the Lions this week from their loss last week. Detroit absolutely handed it to Atlanta. Their defense was on point and I wish that defense had been on the field last week against Seattle.

So the Lions move to 2-1 however they stay tied for first in the NFC Central with Green Bay. That should all get resolved this week when the two teams play each other. Green Bay was once again gifted a win over the Saints and I don't think the win should speak towards their talent at all.

The other big talk of the weekend was Miami putting up 70 points on the Denver Broncos. Yikes! Buffalo came away with a win, so those Bills fans should be pretty excited. Indianapolis had to take Baltimore to overtime for the win.

I dunno, things are going to be a bit weird this year I think. Some of the power teams that we are used to seem to be struggling. I just hope the Lions can continue to roll forward and stacking those wins!

I was impressed by Penn State's performance.

Hell, I'm even impressed how BYU managed a 3-1 thus far.
