NFL Wildcard Weekend: A historic event!
Things are finally starting to take shape as far as the NFL is going. College football is just a blip in the rear view mirror now. That doesn't mean there aren't some huge shakeup's happening. The head coach of Michigan was interviewing for the Denver Broncos. Harbaugh decided to stay with the Wolverines though. Players from Michigan and Ohio State were trying to decide if they wanted to go pro or stick around for another year.
Sadly, there was a huge accident and some players and staff from the National Champion Georgia Bulldogs team were killed. Life is precious folks. Don't take it for granted.
The good news is, Hamlin from the Buffalo Bills is doing much better and I think he might have even been released. I could be wrong on that. The progress after such a horrific tragedy is encouraging.
I'm afraid I am going to be struggling for topics to write about soon. Fantasy football is done. College football is done. NFL football is going to be done in another month or so. If you don't like Basketball or sports betting, there isn't going to be much to love about my blog. I'll do my best to keep you coming back though!
We had six wildcard games this past weekend. Fun fact! This is the first time in history that all six wildcard games were matchups that had already happened in the regular season. I think there is a lot of feelings both ways about that.
On one side you have the people who don't want to see a repeat of the same old games. They like to see some variety in the playoffs and what fun is it to watch two teams who already squared off.
On the flip side, some people are hungry for retribution. You never know what could happen in the post season!
Take the Giants for example, they stunned Minnesota with a 31 to 24 victory. That knocks Kirk Cousins and his Viking horde out of the running. Kind of makes you wonder how the Lions would have fared given they beat both teams I think.
Buffalo had a barn burner against the Dolphins. I've been cheering for the Bills even before the big injury (except when they played the Lions). I'd like to see them go far this year. I won't lie though, I was a bit worried during the Miami game...
Can't say I am sad to see Seattle out of the running. The 49ers handled them 41 to 23. Many would have argued they shouldn't have even been there given the horrible calls in their game last week. I can't say as though the Lions would have done better against the 49ers, but it would have been fun to see them try.
Jacksonville edged out Los Angeles 31 to 30. I didn't get a chance to watch that game, but it looks like it was pretty exciting.
Then we have the Bengals/Ravens game. Wait, didn't we just see them play each other. Yep, just last week in fact. Yet another example of why having teams that have already matched up isn't a great idea. It gets boring after a while. Cincinnati defeated Baltimore 24 to 17.
Finally, Tampa Bay. They went up against the Cowboys and once again Brady proved just how horrible he is. The Buc's lost 31 to 14. I honestly wouldn't expect anything less. Check back on Thursday for more of my opinion on this game. It's like a final screw you from Brady. I'm not a Cowboys fan, but they have been doing quite well this season. It will be interesting to see how they handle themselves in the rest of the playoffs.
The good news is, from here on out, your weekends should get freed up quite a bit. Two games on Saturday and two games on Sunday. That's it. No more excuses to put off helping with the housework or cleaning out the garage.
I'm still calling an Eagles/Buffalo Superbowl, but the Bills need to get through the Bengals first and the Eagles need to take out the Giants.
Meanwhile, Jaxsonville will be facing KC and San Francisco will be taking on Dallas for their own shot at the conference championship.
