Some great Easter weekend softball games!

While the first part of the Easter holiday weekend was pretty eventful for my nieces and their softball teams, the last half of the weekend was dedicated to basketball.

I probably mentioned in my post last week that my oldest niece and her university softball team were on a bit of a road trip into southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky.

Things got going on Friday as the Tiffin Dragons traveled to Cedarville University in Cedarville, OH. The Dragons dropped the first game 2 to 7 after Cedarville came out of the gate hot putting up six runs in three innings.

In stark contrast was game 2 where Tiffin shut out Cedarville and beat them 5 to 0. A lot of this was due in part to some great pitching by Jules King. She is new to the roster this year and her presence is not going unnoticed. Which is actually pretty good. Ace Pitcher Claire Feldkamp is a senior and it will be important to have someone to fill her shoes next year.

Meanwhile, later that night, my nieces younger sister had a high school varsity softball game against Hilliard Darby outside of Columbus, OH. I mentioned last week that her team had put up something like 56 runs across 3 games, well that streak ended on Friday night.

The Coffman Shamrocks got a win, but it was a close 3 to 2 victory over Darby. The rocks starting pitcher who bats second in the lineup right after my niece hit two home runs in the same game. It was pretty impressive. She has been having a great season so far and I know my niece is really happy for her.

With her softball games done for the weekend. Saturday brought us back to her older sister and the final two games of their trip down to Kentucky.

It was a sweep for the Dragons as they beat Thomas More University 9 to 1 in the first game and 11 to 9 in the second game. The first game was actually quite boring with Tiffin basically dominating the whole game. It was nice to see my niece get some at bats and she played very well.

The second game looked a little iffy to begin with. Thomas More jumped out to a commanding 6 to 0 lead in the first inning only for the Dragons to chip away at that lead and eventually walk away with the win. I'm not saying I want to see them get 9 runs put up on them like that, but it was definitely the more suspenseful game.

My niece also did well in the second game and more than one of those 11 runs can be credited to her. She is staring to feel really good according to her conversation with @mrsbozz and I think that home run she hit a couple of weeks ago when we were down watching her has really given her a bit of a spark.

Which is good because there is still a lot of softball to be played this Spring and she is going to need to be at the top of her game to help her teammates.

I am really proud of both of my nieces and what they continue to accomplish on the softball field!
