Where'd all the sports go?

Dramatic a little? Perhaps... The fact is, there are still plenty of sports going on this weekend, but with College Football in a bit of a hiatus while we wait for the bowl games to start up on December 16th, the weekends suddenly seem just a little more empty.

The good news is, this allows me to dedicate a bit more of my time to college basketball as well as my nieces high school team now that she is back on the court after clearing concussion protocol. It's honestly a bit crazy to think how many kids must have been out on the court/field playing when they really shouldn't have back in the day.

Concussions weren't something that any of us really thought twice about. I remember getting hit in the head with a baseball bat as a kid when I stood to close to my cousin and was on the receiving end of his back-swing. I don't think I even went to the doctor.

But I digress.

As I said the weekend feels a little more empty now, but that doesn't mean there isn't good stuff out there to watch. Heck, I even caught myself watching a soccer game the other day. I think maybe it was the Italian League? Is that even a thing? I honestly don't know who I was watching. There were some exciting missed shots on the goal though and most likely the game ended in a tie.

Just a guess.

Today seems to be a pretty dead day for college basketball with zero top 25 games being played. Just as well, since I will likely be trying to find the stream of my niece playing tonight. She still might not get a lot of time on the court, but I still enjoy seeing her when she does.

Saturday on the other hand is a different story. This will become more the norm now that football season is winding down. Eighteen top 25 games on the schedule for tomorrow. Let me break down the ones you should be keeping an eye on.

#16 Kentucky is facing off against Penn. I honestly expect this to be a Wildcats win all the way, but Penn has a similar record to KU and they might have a fire under their butt after the heat they are taking from the recent antisemitism hearings.

#20 Illinois vs. #17 Tennessee is one to watch out for. I don't think I'd be afraid to put a bit of money on Illinois winning this game.

Likewise, #4 Purdue against Alabama could be a good game. Purdue only has that one loss to Northwestern, so they will be looking to bounce back from that, but Alabama has shown in the past couple of years they are more than just a football college.

#23 Wisconsin faces off against #1 Arizona after a bit win over Michigan State this past week. Michigan State gave Arizona a run for their money on Thanksgiving day, so this could be a really good game from a Wisconsin team that is looking to prove they belong in the top 25.

If the Wisconsin/Arizona game starts going south, you might want to jump over to the TCU/#24 Clemson game at halftime. That one starts about an hour after the other game and it puts two undefeated teams against each other. One of them has to get their first loss, which one will it be?

That Arkansas/#19 Oklahoma game could be good too. I wouldn't put it past the Razorbacks to give the Sooners a bit of grief.

I'd also keep an eye on the Missouri/#2 Kansas game at 5:00 PM. I full expect Kansas will win, but with one loss on the season already, we know they aren't invincible.

I'm pretty happy to see Colorado State with a 9 - 0 record and a #13 in front of them. That is quite the accomplishment for the small college from Ft. Collins Colorado. I got to visit CSU when I was in high school and the campus is so amazing. It's one of the most memorable trips from my youth!

#14 BYU is looking to stay undefeated against Utah who has dropped two of their first 8 games. Given the fact that the Utes are at home, this could be the first loss for the Cougars.

Finally, I'd keep an eye on that Washington/#7 Gonzaga game if you can stay up that late. I expect Gonzaga will win, but then again the entire university in Washington is riding a wave right now thanks to the success of their football team. Will that excitement carry over into the basketball season?

Sunday there are only two top 25 games. Colorado vs. #15 Miami, and Memphis vs. #21 Texas A & M. I could see either of those being upsets honestly. More likely the Memphis game, but don't take my word for it.

Whatever you watch this weekend, I hope you have an awesome time. I need to go place some bets now!
