The first HPUD of 2023
If you know me, it is pretty rare that I write a post on the weekend. This is a very special day though. The first Hive Power Up Day of 2023 is going to be a big one for me. Well, bigger than some of the previous ones. Probably not as big as some of you out there!
I've been eyeing this day for quite some time now. Towards the end of 2022 I started to realize that I needed to make a renewed commitment to my Hive account. That 20% interest on my HBD savings is really exciting, but unfortunately, that growth has been at the expense of my Hive growth lately.
It's personal opinion of course, but I really feel if you have any belief in the future of Hive, you really need to be powering up your account as much as you can.
Have you ever heard the parable (or whatever) of the goose that laid the golden egg? Long story short, this goose lays golden eggs, but instead of being content with getting that perpetual passive income, the guy decides to kill it and try to get more in a lump sum. He ends up with nothing if I remember right.
The same thing applies to Hive. If you are constantly powering down and never growing your account, it is just like killing the goose that lays the golden egg.
The key thing to remember about building your stake on Hive is the fact that it isn't just your account that is growing. By increasing your vote power, you are also ensuring that other people are going to be growing as well.
Hive is gaining more and more facets each day but as far as the blogging side goes, it works the best when we are all growing our accounts.
It has been pointed out by more than one person that Hive is going to be harder and harder to get as we move further into the future. Getting as much as you can now and powering it up could be a game changer three to five years down the road.
It's very possible there is going to come a day where blogging is only 1% of the things you can do on Hive. Which means earning Hive from blogging could be close to impossible to do.
Why wouldn't we be taking advantage of that while we can.
That's my thinking anyway and a big part of the reason I have decided I need to focus in on growing my account a little more than I have in the past.
There you go, that's my short HPUD post for today. 900 bright and shiny Hive staked to my account! This is going to be a great year, I can feel it!

Same thoughts haha. Therefore, even though I knew that I'm already short, I would never attempt to do it. I also want to join HPUD but I think I could only do it for tomorrow.
Any time you can power up is a good time! They just have some special stuff for today. I get that sometimes people have emergencies and they need to power down, but never growing your stake is not the way to be successful.
I agree. If people are just taking then the platform will lose value. Value comes from investment of funds as well as good content.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I am sure there will be a day I pull out some Hive myself, but it will never be at the expense of my account growth.
I look forward to when we can take an income from Hive. The price needs to go up a bit for that to be realistic, but we have seen what is possible previously.

I admire your thinking, I didn't see it through that perspective before. Blogging right now on Hive might not be much of a luxury in the future so it's wise to take advantage of it and build our accounts/stake through it. The more Hive power we have the better for us and the Hive ecosystem at large.
Yep, we are working against time right now. It might not be as exciting, but the bear is the perfect time to build.

Awesome power up, I did a little Hive today, and did a bigger amount of Leo, I fully intend powering up both whenever I have the chance.

I'm on the fence about the remainder of my Leo right now. I think I need to split the difference and only power up a portion of it.
Oooo thank you for the spark of knowledge that has just now dawned on me...that of liquidating my HBD savings and forgoing that 20% in order to capitalize on the low price of Hive. It's too late for me to do that for this particular HPUD, but for next month maybe so! In any case nice power up!
The prices right now really favor it. I made a swap when HBD was at 1.01 and hive was at .26. it was a really smart move.

The time seems propitious to grow as much as we can to the extent of our possibilities. The potential of Hive is huge and I believe that those of us who are here today are fortunate. And we should not let the opportunity pass us by.

I agree, there is a ton of potential here on Hive. It is probably one of the greatest chains out there right now if not severely unknown.
That's right. I very much agree. And it would be great to get more people to join in the short term. But for the first-timer, it can be a bit overwhelming at times. The start should be made easier for those new to the crypto world IMHO.
They are working on it I think but there are so many moving parts. I think it is just going to take time.
