Barbie Career Design Challenge ~ my Barbie pink ribbon career dress entry #CONTEST #NEEDLEWORK

I started out with the design and made a pattern. I always start with a sketch and I am not new to sewing so i know wheat needed.
I used black for the dress and wanted pink assets.
I used things I have in sewing kit.
Barbie’s dress needs to be 24 cm head to toe.
I wanted pleads n the middle and a rond side on the bottom.
I wanted to make a statement dress for a gala, a fundraiser for pink ribbon, something I will attend in a few weeks. We also have a gala on the boat we will be holidaying on in two weeks.

I used the sewing machine and the lock machine while making the dress.

Its not my first sewing hive contest rodeo, I made these beauties before. The dresses were inspired by the sewing magazines I read in sewing class and that we can borrow to make our own clothes.

This is the black dress on length and pinned on the bust line.
A measuring lint is necessary while sewing.

The lock machine is for the inner sewing sides, and i didnt have black thread, but because its inside its no problem for this design.

While making a design and pattern from scratch you need to adjust sometimes and essential is stay on top of the centimeters and see if the fit is possible.

I always wear something around the neck, a necklace or a scarf, I made her a neck cuff. Ofcourse in pink aswell. Here I decided to use roses on the dress diagonal across and along the rond a-line of her dress. The roses are useable for so many things and now for the dress I am entering in the contest.

And a wedding dress with just married written on the fabric.

This is the start of the pink flower clutch bag she will wear with the outfit, and carry in her hand.

I started with another Barbie but the one that will wear this dress has the same hair color as i do. So I changed.

Looking at the pattern again.

The bag made from two wooden flower buttons.

Simple.. just two buttons sewed together and a ribbon in between to be the handle.

Well here is the end result.
This is what she will wear to the pink ribbon gala and fundraiser.

The roses can be attached and de-attached. But than it will be a simple black dress.
And some sexiness by having a high split, and bear leg.

You can go bare feet but its a gala so I will show heels at the end.

For the interested reader, i made the grey lock lines black with a marker. Not nesseccary but nicer, and a simple trick because I didn’t have black tread for the lockmachine. You see the difference, and i will do the top after this part of the blog.

You have to show the proces, so this is her behind.
You see the edge to the right at the bottom of the dress.

Same at the front, only there its to the left.

She get a rose in her hair, a hart shaped necklace or the neck cuff, what is you favorite.
LESS IS MORE, SO YOU CAN ALWYS CHOOSE
AND COMBINE WHAT YOU WANT YOURSELF!

I did her hair with a cocktail pick now its more wavy and almost the same color as I have.
She has a mole on her calf, because flaws can be shown also on a Barbie, we have to teach that to our daughters. You matter no matter what!!!!

Here you see she wears red heels, heels need to be part of the total package, and is really feminine !

I am ready, done and finished a lovely project. It took me a few hours but loved every minute of it. Why the PINK RIBBON GALA thats a cause really dear to my hart and that why i choose it as the reason for wearing a dress. I also always make something I want to wear proud myself. This one I would for sure.

Now that the entry is done,
The girls are in their basket again.
But I will make other dresses aswell and will post them soon.
This won’t be the last Britt’s Design.
