Brussels Belgium 🇧🇪 the start of our trip to Miami USA
We are in 🇧🇪 Belgium , in this photo you see us in Rotterdam at the start of the van Brienenoordbrug where the traffic jam started. We took of for our long trip today and we first landed in Brussels. After 3,5 hours ( normally 2 hours drive ) we arrived in our pre-booked Van Der Valk Hotel. A big Dutch chain of good hotels. We will be travelling to the states and have some air hours ahead. This hotel is a good plan And a perfect match to eat, sleep and fly. We can leave our car in the carpark untill we come back.
We fly from Belgium because of the troubles on our beloved Schiphol AirPort in Amsterdam. It’s still a problem with baggage claim and drop and also the customs, that is why we decided with 4 kids not to go through Amsterdam but choose for Brussels international airport, called Zaventem.
Because the traffic jam was very bad, so I had time to see if I didn’t forget anything before we have to board the plane tomorrow.
But the list was all packed , we did great.
We arrive and park and get in the elevator to a beautiful lobby and a nice smelling kitchen of the restaurant were we will have dinner before we go to bed early because we have to set the alarm at 6 o’clock.
The hotel is great. We know it from Holland because van der Valk is everywhere.
The rooms were nice and very well equipped.
The parking was in the basement and the cars will be safe and secured while we are away.
The hotel frontside was good visible from
the main road. And it’s a place used for travel the most , and like us there were more families because it’s the May holiday for two weeks.
The interior is very stylish, and everything is situated in little seating areas and cosy places.
And a delicious cheese burger for the kids.
The restaurant is full, we think because of teh tourists and the May holiday but also because fridaybis a good night to go outvoted diner.

Ofcourse I had to do a bathroom selfie for toiletthursday a fun tag I made a few years ago !
If you want to fly, without the current Dutch handler problems Brussels is a good alternative. Because we are a family of 6 ( 2 adults and 4 kids ) it’s was cheaper to find flights from Belgium or Germany.
Maybe if you want to travel look outside the borders aswell.
