Christmas Essentials Preparations and More

and pre-tasting to decide what I am gonna make this year.
Yes the Christmas days are a big thing.

The preparations have started. Two weeks to go and than we are hosting two days and one morning of Christmas. For you that don’t know , we are all about family.
So these days we are all together. Kids come home from campus and we have a few gifts for eachother.
Food is also a binding factor and I always try out the things we are eating at Christmas in the weeks before. A damn job but someone has to do it…..
I already bought table arrangements , menu’s and made a door wreath.
Simple den green , lights and a bell.
The bell is a thing I let come back every year, as a sign to sign in the new year.
So today we are gonna try the chicken ragout we will have as a starter. It’s like a stew. Ragout will be put in a puff pastry shape , which I have yet to buy are probably stars .
The reason I try everything in advance is also because many product you need re only good till before Christmas. So when it’s good I will buy it either next Friday or in the weekend, to be safe and know it’s still good for the piece the Christmas resistance.
Fresh chopped veggies.
And red onions because they are so sweet in the dish.
But you can use whatever vegetables you like.
I used butter and some spices before the veggies go in. Ofcourse also salt and pepper.
The chicken drumsticks after they are backed for 6 minutes.
Big chicken drumsticks, veggies and butter, the smell is amazing and I count two drumsticks per person, because we have more things on the menu.
When all are done , I leave it for 30 minutes to cook with a bit of water added to the sauce.
After that I peel of the meat from the bones. And the ragout is almost done. The taste is amazing and the dish is good for the menu.
I write down to buy the meat , veggies and butter.
Step one is doen, and we had a wonderful dinner at the same time.
I still am looking at all the free glossy magazines that all the grocery stores Holland has give out, for the best recipies and ideas.
I also bought a “kerststol” it’s a nut bread with almond paste to see if it’s good to incorporate into the Christmas breakfast.
