When in Austria 🇦🇹 I drink ALMDUDLER, an alps herb drink
Things you like to drink and eat?
And which are different in every country?
Well I ( read we ) do! We like to order local drinks. In this case because we are in Austria we love to drink ALMDUDLER. A non alcoholic drink. Preferably served cold and to be drunk with a straw. I brought my own metal one but I also brought wooden for the kids. Plastic is so 1980 !
What is ALMDUDLER?
It is a kind of spa red with bubbles and the taste of herbs such as lemon balm, sage, gentian, coneflower and my favorite elderflower. The herbs that all grow in the Alps. It is completely without preservatives and wonderfully fresh. It is a bottle or can with a typical Austrian love couple and they both wear traditional costumes. It always reminds me of the Heidi in the Alps movies from back in the day.
It’s an #amazingdrinks must blog if you ask me. We even went to the local spar supermarket to buy cans and there I saw that it’s also available in sirup. So we can make it ourselves when we are home and we can’t buy it anymore. Great find ! I always love shopping in supermarket abroad because the products are so different from what is available in Holland. And I love trying new thinks out.
The cans have different colors and even a pride edition. What product these days hasn’t got a pride edition or wrapping hahah.
ALMDUDLER is a drink like Coca Cola the exact amount of herbs is used is a huge recipe secret. I don’t care I don’t wanna make it myself I just wanna drink it and enjoy. I drink it in the summer now but also in winter it’s great.
So ALMDUDLER must have a place in the #amazingdrinks tag and community.
On our way from Austria to Italy we stopped at the Spar and bought a 12 pack cans and a bottle of syrup ALMDUDLER so we have it at our final holiday destination aswell.

From what you say it seems to be a masterful drink, here in Venezuela I don't think they sell it, in fact it's the first time I hear about it. However, here they always sell imported products and I will try to locate it. If I don't find it, well, it will be when I leave my country, but I am intrigued by the drink. Regards.

I don't know this drink, but I love that mix of herbs. I miss the elderberry plant (Sambucus) although I don't know if it's the same plant that was at home, I usually made infusions and teas with its flowers and leaves.
I find it interesting to make a homemade version of ALMDUDLER, and without a doubt this drink has a #tag in this community.
