Why men need their own space

I didn't really realise this when I created the man cave, in fact I had no clue that any of this would happen, but it's something that sorely lacks for men in society. Unfortunately it's something that has been whittled out of our way of living as we have navigated the sticky world that we have right now.

But it's making a comeback. I see all over my town there are new places invented by charities purely for the betterment of men, which are for men and run by men. It's something I would have never considered as a thing back when I was a kid. I was raised by my mother, and well, according to my mother men control the world.

Well, they do and they don't. There's a small section of society that controls everything through the accumulation of money, and those people are predominantly men. Sadly, most men are tarred with the same brush, and by using them as a standard it is said that most men control all of society -- which in general is just a massive over correction for what's really happening.

Granted, men control infrastructure, which without it we wouldn't exist as a society, but they don't really have any "control" over it. So they don't decide what goes where and who gets what, it's usually the people at the top with all the money pressing all the buttons.

If only society would realise how much power it has collectively huh?

Anyway, that being said men are somewhat displaced in a society that is increasingly hostile to them. I speak from the heart here when I am scared to talk to other kids, or reprimand random kids for being arseholes because of the knee-jerk hysteria fuelled society that we have become, and because of that men have somewhat retreated to their caves.

And from there it is no longer acceptable or socially acceptable to create places or havens for men only. Doing so is usually met with disdain or hysteria. It's sad because there are several thousand men that are going through bouts of loneliness and displacement, and when we once cared about issues like this, we no longer do not.

Luckily the change is coming, and I already see man caves being created all over the place. On Facebook, on Discord, hell, even on twitter. I think I followed another mancave on twitter last week -- so it just goes to show that there are people that are recognising this and coming together to create something powerful.

And that's what we have created in the Man Cave here. A brotherhood of sorts, something that men can feel connected and social in, whilst at the same time feel valued and respected. I'll be honest, I kinda love it in my cave!

But men need their own space, and I dare say away from women. sometimes it's nice to just go hang with the guys and talk about sports, beer, cars, and Cuban cigars, or sci fi if that's your thing. Many different interests. I miss that. That's why I created a place for men online.

And hopefully one day we can expand out into the real world. Maybe!
