Mitos y Leyendas Venezolanas/ 4 Parte (Esp/ Eng)

La cultura venezolana es muy rica, en leyendas, mitos hay para escoger, pues nuestro país se puede decir es multicultural debido a las mezclas de raza y por consiguiente de culturas, inmersas dentro de ese cambio a través de los tiempos, desde el tiempo de la colonia con los españoles hasta la fecha.

Estas leyendas han nacido en los diferentes pueblos y ciudad de Venezuela, por los caseríos, haciendas, llanos, selvas hay muchas creencias nacidas de estas historias. Hay una en especial que toco a mi familia en tiempos de mi abuelita, que cuento en un post en mis inicios. Ese cuento a rodado en la familia siempre en nuestras tertulias familiares y no es otro que:

Se dice que es la historia de un hachador, que quería fabricar su propio ataúd, pero para esas fechas estaba la Semana Mayor en pleno apogeo, era un viernes Santo, sus familiares le insistieron en que dejara esa labor, para después de esta semana, ya que se acostumbraba no hacer ningún quehacer u oficio, por esos dias se debía, nada mas asistir a misas, rosarios y estar en casa en reposo sin hacer actividades que implicaran trabajo.

Pero este señor, en su terquedad de ir a buscar la madera para su ataúd, no reparo en estas advertencias y se fue esa tarde a talar arboles para obtener la madera ansiada. Partió con su hacha y su saco para el monte. Cuando iba a empezar a talar, al primer golpe se desató un torrencial aguacero y todo se nublo, sin embargo este hombre insistía en su tarea.

It is said that it is the story of an axe-maker, who wanted to make his own coffin, but for those dates was in full swing, it was a Good Friday, his relatives insisted him to leave that work, for after this week, since it was customary not to do any chore or office, for those days was due, nothing but attend masses, rosaries and be at home at rest without doing activities that involved work.

But this gentleman, in his stubbornness to go to look for the wood for his coffin, did not pay attention to these warnings and went that afternoon to cut down trees to obtain the desired wood. He set out with his axe and his sack for the forest. When he was about to start felling, a torrential downpour broke out and everything became cloudy, but this man insisted on his task.

Cuando fue a dar su segundo golpe, cayo fulminado por un rayo que le dio en su humanidad, dejándole tirado en el acto. Se dice que Dios molesto por la necedad y soberbia, falta de respeto para con el, lo fulminó con este rayo. Desde entonces se empezaron a correr las historias de este personaje, que se dan precisamente por los dias santos o en las noches donde cae alguna lluvia torrencial.

Asusta y golpea a todo aquel que ande a deshoras o por los dias Santos fuera de su hogar, sobre todo cuando se avecina un torrencial palo de agua. Recordándoles a los incrédulos el respeto que deben tener por nuestro Señor y a los necios, enseñarles a acatar las advertencias. Es el decir de mi abuelita y de todos aquellos en mi familia, que tuvieron su encuentro con este ser.(Si lo quieres leer aqui lo puedes hacer).

When he was about to strike his second blow, he was struck by a bolt of lightning that struck him in his humanity, leaving him lying on the spot. Se dice que es como la Llorona que cuando se oye su llanto lejos, es por que esta cerca y cuando se oye su llanto cerca, es por que esta lejos. En este caso serian los golpes secos del hacha a los arboles y el ruido de los arboles al caer. Pero son creencias que han pasado de generación en generación. En mi caso de mi abuela, madre y ahora yo misma a mis hijos.

It is said that she is like the Llorona that when you hear her cry far away, it is because she is near and when you hear her cry near, it is because she is far away. In this case it would be the dry blows of the axe to the trees and the noise of the falling trees. But these are beliefs that have been passed down from generation to generation.
