No Man Is An Island...

Crazy things are indeed happening all around us.

I read the story of a young man that was quite rich and was considering having his friends arrested by the police. And why was this? It was because he was told by a prophet that one of them was going to kill him.

In his circle of friends, he is the only rich one and the others are struggling. But he is not the type that shares updates with those around him, he believes that everyone should work for their updates as much as he has worked, so he kept it all to himself.

I read this story on a social media page, so I cannot tell if it is actually true or not. From what I gathered, he had called on the page to get advice on how he would go about it. As you have probably guessed, members did not have the answers he was expecting.

But I can tell you that such things are actually happening in real life. And I am not talking about the prophecy of his friends killing him.

The truth is that there are some people that pick their friends based on what they have, they want to be the best in their circle and make sure that no one measures up to them. When they try to make changes to better their lives they object and discourage them, giving them all the reasons that they can’t do it. And all this will be done under the guise of “I am doing all this because I care about you.”

But if we are being honest, almost everyone does not like handouts. In fact, everyone hates it. No one likes having to beg for money every time, but there are people that thrive on being begged. They prefer it when everyone around them has to come to them for financial assistance, that way they can raise their shoulders and do as they please because they know that people will not dare to do anything that will anger them. Because it will be like killing the proverbial cash cow.

Having such people as friends will never be in your favor because there is nothing they will do that will contribute to your growth. Instead of teaching you to fish, they would rather give you half a fish every day. Just enough to quench your hunger but nothing left to work on meaningfully, and that way you would have no choice but to return to them the next day.

It is sad, that is why bad feelings are usually generated around such people. You would realize that people are just jealous and envious of everything about them. Even when they are receiving help from them.

But then, when you grow and also help your circle grow as well, you will see that the positive vibes among you all will be in abundance. Because the major thing that drives wedges between friends is money, take that away and every other thing can be solved with ease. Unless it is love, of course. But that is another topic for another day entirely.

When everyone is successful, it does not matter if they are all making the same amount of money, provided they are all well off and they do not have to rely solely on one person, there will be little reason for hate and jealousy because there is really nothing to be jealous of.

This is why we should always try to share updates we know will be beneficial to those around us, it might be useless to us but it would be of great help to others and if we choose to keep it to ourselves just because we do not want them to be better than us we might hurt them in the present, but that might backfire on us later in the future. This is a possibility many of us do not consider.

Mind you, I am not saying that all helpers are bad. As a matter of fact, it is necessary. There are a lot of people who go out of their way to help others. Not just those in their circle, but whoever they feel needs it. They just do it for the sake of being human. And when they help, they help you so that in the future you would not need that particular kind of help again, that is the realest help. They are the real gems.

Life is not easy, I keep saying this, so we should be extremely careful about the kind of people we allow around us. We need to be careful of the kind of things they say into our ears so that we can know those who are really for us and those who just want us to always be somewhere beneath them on the ladder. Because as long as we have such people close to us, they will never lift a finger to help us in our growth.

Hopefully, we would not have such people in our lives. And if we do, we will have the foresight to cut off all ties with them so that we can grow bountifully from strength to strength.
