History is awash with so many people doing so many great things across the sands of time. There are those who did things that revolutionized the world, changing lives and making people better for it. And there were those who only did terrible things with their main focus on inflicting pain and serving personal interests.

History, however, should be impartial and objective. Spitting the facts as they should be without any buttressing or sugarcoating in favor of one side or the other. Sadly though, that’s not the case. As the saying goes, history is written by the victors and they can write it however they deem fit. Making the story turn out to be in their favor and because everyone will not know, it becomes set in stone.

That’s life for you, and as a result, we have a lot of histories that many people say don’t really tell the story as they should and it’s only up to the people who were actually there to keep the memory alive by passing down what really happened through their generations with the hope that soon, history will be corrected. I don’t really know if that usually ends up happening.

2dk2RRM2dZ8gKjXsrozapsD83FxL3Xbyyi5LFttAhrXxr16mCe4arfLHA37mQtCuynkak9C9VAxm3nacdB7gLmLiZLuYVhHeNsRgxL6WKJoam3hs2B7ZLAp2jwaLFEwoAbLKzAfpv2DhtyvHbJunTbU58RMbxtkvefNK4qj8EA.png

So, for me, what historic event would I love to witness in person?

Well, it’s actually not too long ago. I’ll simply go back to the late 1980s and early 1990s when popular reggae singer Majek Fashek was the rave of the moment. His hit song Send Down The Rain gave him the title of The Rainmaker. It was also the song that catapulted him into the worldwide stage and went on to win him at least six musical awards. Awesome right?

However the most fascinating fact about this song is how people claimed it was prophetic, whenever he performed the song, it was said to always rain heavily in that area. No matter where he was, once he and his crew mounted the stage and started singing the song, the heavens will open up and the earth will be drenched in seconds.

Is this correct? I have no idea, but it has bugged me for a long time ever since I heard the story. I even went online to search it and there were stories of people who admitted it happening. But then, anything you don’t experience yourself shouldn’t be taken like that. They could either be exaggerated or diluted. And that’s what I want to find out.

2dk2RRM2dZ8gKjXsrozapsD83FxL3Xbyyi5LFttAhrXxr16mCe4arfLHA37mQtCuynkak9C9VAxm3nacdB7gLmLiZLuYVhHeNsRgxL6WKJoam3hs2B7ZLAp2jwaLFEwoAbLKzAfpv2DhtyvHbJunTbU58RMbxtkvefNK4qj8EA.png

I just want to attend one of his concerts and have a great time. Preferably in an open field, so that when the rains come down, we all will be totally drenched to the bone but it won’t mean a thing because we all would be vibing and dancing to his awesome music.

And the great thing is that music performances back then were actually performed. Not lip-synced like a lot of artists do today. So, with the beats and the instrumentals coursing through my body, then the heavens opening up to water the earth, I’ll be sure to have a great time.

So, my dear friends, this is one historical event I would love to witness in person. But then, maybe it’s a good thing I can’t go. These stories are part of the things that make Majek Fashek the legend that he is, after all, he was called the Rainmaker for a reason right? So finding out if the rains did come down will be largely on the roll of a dice. It could go either way.

Sadly though, we lost the great singer a few years ago after a long battle with cancer. He may be gone though, but his legacy lives on! And seeing as I can’t travel back in time to confirm for myself if his song really did bring down the rain, I’ll keep on enjoying his evergreen music and believing without doubt that whenever he performed Send Down The Rain, it sure as hell always did rain. Unless you have evidence, you can’t tell me otherwise. Or you go explain tire!^

That’s why he’s called The Rainmaker!!!

Hehehe, what a new discovery this morning. I never heard about this particular hero and his history. Hmmm, could this be possible? He sings and it rain? What if it was in dry season 😂
This historic event is worth witnessing because seeing is believing oo ..lol
Well, we just have to believe From what we read through the confirmation of others. Rip to the Rain maker

We only have to believe ooo. It's not easy to have such a legend surrounding a person. So whether it's real or not, for people to even believe it, then you should know what kind of charisma he would have possessed.

Majek Fashek is not just a music maker to me but someone with divine mandate.

His songs are so pleasing to the ears even till this day. I wished he had lived in our time too. He's a legend for life!

Thank you for this brilliant piece I'm definitely listening to his songs today🤗✌️

To be honest, I never heard of him. I'll check him out though!

I like it that you went for a rather 'simple human' event in history, don't get me wrong, I don't find the exact good words in English, but attending a music concert is different than the 'Big well-known moments of history'.

Well written article!

Indeed... If I had the opportunity to travel back in time, I'll rather spend it doing something I would enjoy! And music is top of that list! Anything else, I'm sure it can be done here in the present.😊

It's a different view as I have but I like your vision! I wanted to understand certain events better but as you state, I could probably achieve this in the present aswell somewhere in the world. A performance is unique in time, a past performance could have been way better or worse as one happening this evening.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Imagining having to attend a concert under the rain. It will be so interesting that the rain is pouring on so many people at once
It will surely be a good feeling

It'll be awesome, right?
Until the cold sets in of course...😂
But no worries, it'll definitely be worth it!

Yeah, that's true though. I guess he sang the song when they was drought actually and that was his greatest hit. Majek is a legend and will forever be missed

When it comes to music, we have a lot of Legends. It also shows just how far we've come as an industry.

It was also the song that catapulted him into the worldwide stage and went on to win him at least six musical awards.

What!! At least 6 means huge. I am imagining that the song must be special.
I never heard the song. May be it's because I am not a music lover and I listen music in rare cases🤔.

Hah... how can you not be a music lover?😣
Honestly, I don't know how I'll survive if music didn't exist. I love music! I basically listen to it everyday!🤗

Hmmm, I'm shocked to hear this one. If it is so, i would love to witness it with optical eyes. Is it hilarious.
It is true that some of this historical event are not well written as it was presented or seen. They would always want to write to their own test, making it fun and unbelievable. Thank you Sir for sharing with us.
