What If The World Had Turned Out Differently From What We Have Now?

Sometimes the craziest thoughts go through my head, and I wonder where they come from.

Many of us are familiar with the Bible story in the book of Genesis, just after Adam and Eve had eaten the forbidden fruit and were hiding from God because they realized they were naked. That is the first instance a person became decent if you know what I mean. After all, prior to that he and his wife were all walking about the garden naked as ducks until they ate the fruit and their eyes opened.

Now, I began to think, what if after discovering their nakedness they decided to cover something else other than their midsection? Like, if Adam had covered his legs instead, or his hands or neck. Does it mean that today, wearing socks and gloves would become a compulsory clothing accessory?

After all, what we think about decency is basically what we think about almost every other thing. We only know what we were taught by our parents and by society. Right from when we were babies, we were taught that some things were bad and other things were good. We were told the kind of things to do, and what not to do. Also the parts of our bodies no one at all was supposed to touch.

Whether we admit it or not, it is these lessons and warnings that formed the basis of our upbringing, they made us aware of the do's and don'ts concerning our bodies. Although there are those that will grow up and stray from such teachings, there are still those that will stay true to it and live principled lives.

After all, the world only moves because of people. It is people that pass messages across to other people, and when this message goes, it is transmitted based on the personal feelings of the person passing it.

And this is not just limited to decency. We also have responsibility. What if society had taught us different? What if our sense of responsibility from time immemorial had been different? Like if during the old days it was not the duty of the men to go out and fight the bears and wars, while the women stayed home to take care of the family, what if by some weird twist of fate, it was that as women gave birth to children, men took over and nursed them until they grew up.

If all these things were in place, how do you think our world would be? Very different, I tell you. Our way of thinking will also be different, and the inventions that we have today will also be different.

So, where am I going with all this?

Life, as it is, we need guidance or rules. That is the only way balance can be found. And this rule of a thing, I believe is first come first serve. Those who were here before us were the ones that got to decide what should be what. It is just that as time goes on, these rules become sort of watered down, and society keeps on getting more and more tolerant, and as that happens people keep on pushing the boundaries.

Personally, I don’t know how the world would have been if our sense of values were different. If maybe we attached value to different things, instead of how we have them today, will that change the way we see ourselves? Will it change our relationships with our family members? Our partners?

However, as it is, the world has been on this path and I for one am still sticking to the values taught me by my parents. Left and right, we see people going contrary to the values that had been instilled in them and doing whatever they please. We have many people going almost nude on air, for everyone to see. We have abusers in relationships, we also have manipulators, cheats, and what have you. These acts just tell us more about ourselves and how we see the world because that determines how we will react to it.

Honestly, it is not easy to stay on the right track. Especially when it seems like every other person is doing it and getting away with it or even making money off it, it might be tempting. But those values you hold onto and cherish are what will keep you in check and make sure you do not stray.

Wow, I can imagine your imagination 😊...you know what? I have thought about this Adam and Eve something several times and I felt like blaming them for what they did because I was made to understand by the scripture that if not cos their sins, life would have been easier for everyone in this world.

This thought normally comes each time I am about to enter the labor room, I will think of how God said that women will labor before bearing a child all because of Eve🤣🤣🤣.

Well, the world is here with us with rules and we are still going contrary with it in so many ways but like you said, it's not easy to stay on the right track but we can try to hold on to those good values passed to us by our parents and religious leaders to be good ambassadors in this earth.

Yeah... the rules are meant to keep us in check because without them the world would be plunged into a state of utter chaos.
Thank you for reading.
