Is there really much difference between an elderly person and a child?

Hehe… I know the question is a bit off. Of course, there are differences between them. Elderly people are more pinned to the ground and don’t move around unless they have to, while children are always in a state of Brownian motion, never staying in one place unless they have to. And then, the elderly grow weaker as years go by, while the children grow stronger as years go by. As the elderly become less active, the children become more active… and the list could go on and on…

However, there are similarities as well. The childhood stage and elderly stages are one of the most vulnerable stages of human life. A lot of things can go terribly wrong and as a result, they need special care from others. Children need to be taken care of because they lack the ability to do so, and then many elders need to be taken care of as well because, for one reason or another, they might not be able to do it themselves. That is why we have homes for the elderly and orphanages, but there is nothing for young and middle-aged people.

That is like this weird circle of life, there seems to be an end but then is it really an end? Or is it just another part of the circumference?

When a baby is born, the baby relies heavily on the care of those around it for survival. But as it grows, it learns to survive on its own and go chase its dreams. But then, time happens and soon age slows it down and before you know it, the once beautiful baby is now someone old relying on the care of those around to survive. And this is only for those that make the full cycle.

From nothing to nothing. We all were formed out of nothing, and that is where we would return. There is no achievement or advancement in technology that can change that. If magic tried and failed, Science might not have much luck either. Because as long as Mother Nature is concerned, people will continue to grow old, and no one will live forever.

So, you might wonder where I’m going with all this. Well, I’m wondering as well. This concept struck me when I saw a man on my street today, he was taking a stroll with his grandson. They looked alike, like peas in a pod. And for some reason, all I could think of was "Beginning and End". It was as if both the old man and the toddler were at the same stage of their lives, but still in totally different stages. One was just starting while the other was nearing his finish line. As I said, it’s a vicious cycle. But then, that would mean that there really is no beginning or end either.

The long and short of it is just that time is too short. As in, it’s a precious commodity that you spend whether you want to or not, so why don’t you spend it doing things worthwhile? There should be no wasted moments, and every time spent must be intentional. It doesn’t matter what you are spending the time doing, just be intentional about it.

If you want to party, be sure to thoroughly enjoy it. If you want to work, give it your hundred percent. You are in a relationship? Be fully committed! Spend time with your family! Whatever it is you find yourself doing, do it with everything you have and cherish the moments where you can do them. Because time is going, unfortunately. And there will come a time when we would not be able to do them anymore, all we would have will be the memories we’ve made.

Life is too short not to live it to the fullest, enjoy it while you can! Because soon, it will be time for others to take care of you once again, and you’ll have to be in place while others seem to be having all the fun. Hopefully, we would use our youths to create a conducive place for our old age.

You just bursted a point here that i never thought about.
Indeed we need to do those things we can do while we can or still have the ability to do them because time flies and nobody lives forever. Our Energy and interest to certain things die off gradually as we migrate into old age.

Indeed... time is fleeting. We think we have a lot of it, but the realization that we don't can be sudden. And too late.

Thank you for reading.

Although it sounds a little bit wired but it's the truth that elders become like a child. We need to take care of them like a child.
