Convenience vs Creativity in the Age of Technology

Technology has made a lot of things easier for humans, but it comes at a cost.

Now we can communicate with people far away from us, people from different countries, all thanks to technology. But this same invention has distanced us from the people right in front of us. We often prefer to communicate with friends, allies, colleagues, or bosses on another continent rather than have real conversations with those around us.

Nowadays, people would rather record someone in distress than help. You see a man drowning, and instead of helping, people bring out their phones to record it so they can post it online. That is another dark side of the internet. I used to wonder why people do these things until recently, when I learned that platforms like Twitter now pay people for posting.

I believe monetization is what drives people to act this way, ignoring those in need just to record and earn money. People are doing things they normally wouldn’t do, all for engagement. It is a crazy world out here. Still, we can’t ignore the advantages of the internet: how it makes communication seamless and fast, and how easily we can learn new things nowadays because of it.

Then there is the impact of AI. Technology is evolving in a way that can make us less creative and sometimes even lazy. Why put in effort when AI can do it faster?

I don’t think creativity will disappear, but it is clear that many people are becoming highly dependent on AI. The mindset is shifting to “why stress yourself when AI can help?"

AI was designed to assist us, and that is exactly what it is doing. I wouldn’t say the problem is its existence, but rather how it is used. It still takes knowledge and intention to truly maximize its potential.

And while AI is already helping with things like image creation and more, not everyone is fully aware of its capabilities. Most people only know tools like ChatGPT, Grok, and Gemini, while there are many other advanced AI tools out there doing incredible things.

To cut it short, we are not losing our creativity; using AI is creativity in itself. We still have to guide it, feed it the right ideas, and shape the outcome. What has changed is that we are learning to work smarter, not harder, and that is not a bad thing.

It is not always necessary to stress ourselves or spend hours on something when there are tools that can help us achieve the same result in minutes. Technology is the future, and we are already adapting.

And honestly, it will only get better. The evolution of technology didn't take our creativity; it shapes it.

You are absolutely right, Ai was designed to assist us. The problem is that people depend on Ai and that's limiting our potentials as humans.
Thanks for sharing 😊

No doubt, we are indeed dependent on AI now but I don't really see it as a bad thing...

Technology and AI saved our time and efforts but it never restricts us to be creative. If we waste the time technology saved for us, is the choice we make. We should not blame technology or AI for it.

Some people will always be behind because they refuse to see that Ai was meant to help us not for us to abuse it without thought.
