This week contest is about describing my 'para' meaning neighbourhood, Don't be surprised if i say i grew up in a forest, my family was living in a rented apartment in the city until my father bought a land and built a house in the forest, i called it a forest because everywhere was bushy and different kind of wild animals can be seen even in broad day light, my dad didn't want to quit his civil job in the city so he couldn't move into the house so instead he told my sister to move in there with me, the rest of the family stayed in the city but they do visit me and my sister once in a while...

We had only one neighbor so at least we didn't feel that lonely, but my sister is not that brave, once it is 4 p.m, she lock all the door and we never go out again till the next day and if it isn't bright in the morning we don't come out of the house, there was even a day we started hearing strange noises and for that we both left the house to sleep in our neighbours house, it is always funny to me whenever i remember those memories..

Soon my mother came when my sister gained admission to study in the university after many years of seeking it, my mother was a brave woman, so there was no locking up oneself indoor when it is just noon and i was also allowed to visit the other street as there was another house there as well, itwas during these period i started seeing different wild animals, there was a day i saw many snakes coiled up in a hole where refuse is being dumped, i was so scared that i had to run home! infact i have had many encounter with snakes in my life but i thank God that i was not bitten by any of the snakes..

People living in the forest are really trying, fear of them not stepping on a snake is always there and also there are other animals i have seen with my very own eyes wide and clear, i have seen a crocodile, fox and also chameleon but then gradually other people started coming to build their own house and come to stay with their family as well... This sudden change drove all the wild animals away, i guess they also moved to a greener pasture since men have come to take their land... The once a forest turn to a village and the village later turned to a city as well as the place is now a tourist centre....

Well i left home in the year 2011 to build myself and be independent, so far away from home i found myself in a city in the state of lagos called alagbado, unfortunately i found myself in a kinda area that i do not like cos right from childhood i have been used to seeing trees and bush more than humans, but alagbado is just too crowded and there is no way you can feel awesome walking down the street alone not seeing anyone staring at you or others walking and to make matter worse, the youth in my area took drugs as their companion, you will see small boys with weed smoking as if their life depends on it, they even divided themselves into smaller group and this people do have a reason to cause pandemonium in the town for trivial matters..

I took this picture right from my apartment, one good thing about living in this kind of area is you have the opportunity to get to know people and you can bond with them if you are the type that loves connecting or making friends, it is never boring as there is always things going on around, just by sitting and watching what is going on around you is enough to keep you smiling all day... i grow to love my para as all humans do, we have the ability to cope in any place we find ourselves regardless of the situation or condition.. we always cope...

GOD BLESS
