The hot weather in my country is unbearable

The weather in Nigeria at the moment is nothing to write home about, it is like hell on earth. The weather is so hot that even water cannot solve the problem.

Have you ever showered and within a minute started sweating again? Or have you ever run out of your apartment for fresh air because the inside is as hot as an oven and your head is dripping water.

This has been my situation for the past few weeks and the electricity power authority made the matter worse by not giving constant light, this also started recently because our light was good before and I see no need to own a generator.

Something happened last week, no light for the whole day and I had some tasks to finish, I wanted to go out and use money to charge my gadget but my area does not have those people who rendered such service, everyone with their own generator and I do not want to go around begging shop owners to allow me to charge, after thinking about everything and also the unbearable heat, I got myself a big generator which I used to charge my gadget and also for a cool breeze.

At first, I thought it was just my body reacting to the heat until others started lamenting how heat wants to kill them, some even said they don't put on clothes anymore when they are inside but will this help solve the heat problem? maybe they are just catching a cruise.

How do I solve the heat Problem

  • Stop the usage of Body Cream: I have stopped using cream for a while now and it is for no other reason but for the hot weather because rubbing cream in this kind of weather would only cause more heat.

  • Shower multiple times: The bathroom is now one of my favorite parts of the house because I can shower as much as 5 times a day, spending nothing less than 10 minutes anytime I shower. It does not fully solve the problem because once I leave the bathroom, I start feeling hot again but the process still helps.*

  • Electricity: This is the period we need electricity more so we can power up the fan and AC but since nepa has been misbehaving, the generator solved this issue but I can only use the fan and it is not powerful enough to carry the Ac.

Lastly I made sure to avoid thick clothes, I often put on a jersey or other clothes that are not too thick, I wonder if some of these Yahoo guys will still put on their pullovers and socks in this hot weather. I have not seen any lately so am curious lol

Meanwhile stay strong fam, this period will pass and we won't need to shower or stay outdoors to prevent heat.

If you got a fan it's sufficient, rinse off with thin clothing on then use fan to cool you down further with being wet !LOLZ

Thin cotton Kaftan for indoors is all one needs to be decent if peeping toms like to look in 🙃

Fan indeed solve the problem but then there is the lack of constant electricity which we also have to deal with …

Hehehe, burl curiously looking for yahoo boys to know how they are coping with the heat and their pull over, lolz
Glad there's something like bathing at least to calm our body down for a little while
My own fan is blowing warm...I don't feel too okay with it anymore cos the heat is just intense beyond what fan can handle better, lolz
Can we at least experience rainfall soon? We are now begging for rain like this, haha 😂

At some point even showering doesn't help, you sweat even as you shower and the moment you step out you are back to square one.

Yes o, the yahoo boys still put on pull over anytime any day😂😂
The heat is really everywhere
I wanted to stop using body cream but it’s unfortunate that’s the only way to protect my body against this harsh heat

From yesterday I have read 5/6 post from the Nigerians and I am feeling bad to see the weather condition in Nigeria. I have some past experience and that helping me to guess the condition of your country. In the case of heat you are helpless as electricity problem already exists and I don't think fan is enough and by using generator you can't run an Ac as the power consumption is huge. I just hope the weather will become better.

Seriously, I feel your pain, brother. Sometimes last week, I was discussing it with my friends, and someone said it as if Nigeria is close to hellfire, and the last person that entered didn't remember to lock the gate. The heat is just too much, and when I mean too much, it's very extreme. Sometimes I can't go inside the house, so I stay outside for the little breeze until 2 or 3 am, when the weather is a bit cool, before I go to bed. I can't wait for the rain to start so we can regain our normal weather conditions. You will probably have to go underneath the water or pool and sleep there. LOL.

Wearing loose or cotton clothes is a great way to minimize the heat and its effect on our body. For me, I often try sitting under a tree for most of the day and make it my unofficial living room :)
