Post Void perfects frenetic psychedelic shooters and I'm fine with that (Review)

bet you've never seen an Indie like this: Post Void

In the midst of all the continuous whirlwind that I see in my library there is always some other Indie that does not call my attention or that I always leave for later but the moment I was given Post Void I knew I had something special in my hands, it may not be the longest lasting game or the most brilliant in using the formula of roguelikes to strengthen its gameplay, but its mix of visuals with an oversaturated style and a premise that enhances the curiosity from the first moment have made this one of my favorite indies of the year. We are in search of blood and every second is worth in a journey through a psychedelic maze that requires us to kill every 7 seconds to not die, the token in our hand has this curse but at the same time gives us a purpose and the powers we need to get out of each level alive, this is Post Void.

The first thing that strikes the attention of this game from afar are its visuals, which rather than being an addition in the experience have a very specific function: confuse us, make us lose concentration with their saturated finishes and their lines that resemble a hypnosis therapy to finally kill us, strangely this is one of the first times in indie titles that I see that the graphics are used (in this case simple 3D modeling with the peculiarity of saturated) to offer a more complex gameplay experience, almost embroidering the headache in many of the games I played, but is that also the sound section is there to annoy us the existence and we often find random sounds that confuse us about the location of enemies or stun us if we wear headphones, there is a learning curve just to learn to deal with these textures and sounds and that seems to me that makes the title much more interesting, but I still do not tell you what it's about...

The point is that the idol that we find after a night which we do not remember is the central symbol of the experience, our thirst for blood increases and we need to fill the small compartment of this artifact of blood every 7 seconds if we do not want to die, this is how a massacre is born in each level where we will have to ensure that our idol is not extinguished, In the middle we will have to be both agile and wise when choosing our movements as each level is designed to hit us with everything and be a real work of style and skill that will take us a good time to improve, are just a few levels separated from a window where we can choose a small improvement that does not change anything our way of playing it (a shame) but that makes each level a little more bearable although the difficulty is constantly rising so that we must always be learning in each of the steps we take.

Speed, agility and ability to not get disoriented is what this Indie asks that although it is true that it has few levels and where only one or two really will take us less than 10 minutes to complete it offers an experience that I had never seen before, I think it is also motivated by the limitations of its creators and I would bet an arm that is largely inspired by a classic DOOM, Anyway each level we will have to play it to life or death and every time they finish with us we will have more clues about how each part of the level works because even if we die the levels do not change at all so we can memorize and plan our movements again if we require it.

The best thing about this experience is its price, although I was given it as a gift I think that for 3 euros is an experience that does not last too long and gives to be a game that is experienced quickly and without pause, an experience that stands out for the immediacy rather than for its constancy, if you miss more levels or perhaps a better finish in level design but for its price Post Void offers a solid indie with a very interesting idea that I hope its creators can develop further with a little more budget and ideas, for now I have a game to kill the night stress and quench my thirst for blood at night.
