The Czartoryski Museum in Krakow is one of the most important museums in Poland.
Hello everyone, you know very well that I am a super passionate about museums, so I could not miss the opportunity since I was in Krakow to visit the Czartoryski Museum, one of the most important museums in Poland and which houses one of the most important art collections in the country, but above all there is the famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci the Lady with the Ermine and so early in the morning I got in line for those who had not bought the ticket before, because they tell me that there are always tickets available, and so I bought the ticket at the cost in euros of about 15 euros plus two euros for the audio guide which in my opinion is very important in this museum.
But I must say that the visit to this museum made me understand that this place has several very interesting collections ranging from European Polish art to sacred objects of decorative art, a collection of 19th century antiquities, even one room and this was a real surprise for me I also found an Egyptian collection, which I never thought I would find in Poland, all this thanks to Izabela Czartoryska, which was founded by her in 1796.
As far as I understand, the museum was restored a few years ago, I think in 2016 and you can tell because it is still very beautiful and modern. And precisely the variety of displays makes the visit to this museum even more interesting. I must say unfortunately that in some places the museum signage was a bit absent or not very legible and there were also some mistakes on the names, especially Italian ones. But this can happen. It was certainly a strong emotion to enter the room where there was the Lady with the Ermine, a painting that I have always seen in school books and this time I saw it in person. And in any case, it was well enhanced because it was in a very large room so there was no crowd like the Mona Lisa in the Louvre.
I must say that it is definitely a museum that I recommend visiting if you come to Krakow. On Tuesdays you can enter for free but I am told that there is quite a long queue. In my opinion it is not worth it. It is better to visit calmly during the other days, but remember that Monday is the closing day. In my opinion it is worth the full 15 euros.
