The start of the new year has officially begun. Educational institutes are back to normal, employees and employers return to their jobs and urban life continues to grow and evolve.

The year 2022 had a great impact on the citizens of Caracas. They began to get used to a new way of life. Although this is not the first time this has happened. For those of us who live in this ever-changing city, the mutation is a phenomenon we are already familiar with...

But... this reality of concerts, venues, restaurants and even looking to open new shopping malls, is partly the search to rebuild from the citizenship (although still very divided socially) the productivity of the capital city.

So the idea of this post. It is to tell a little (at least from my perspective) how to take advantage of Caracas and how technology is mixing with our daily life...

Part 1: What to do in Caracas

Undoubtedly many things have changed in the city... but there are others that remain the same. Among them, insecurity and inflation.

That is why Caraqueños have sought to create affordable plans to be able to share without completely emptying their coffers or little savings.

For that reason the main outlets are usually:

-The typical 2x1 at the movies or take advantage of the 50% off ticket offers on Mondays.

-The famous sharing of desserts in cafeterias.

And the classic $1 meal outings, which range from empanadas, to pizza slices or a hot dog 🤭.

However it is important to emphasize that depending on the economic possibilities also plans can be to go to a more formal food place, pub or bars to share a good beer after work, or to start the weekend...

There are also several proposals of things to do in Caracas. For example: go to the theater, to the museums, tour the squares and churches, etc...
But what prevails lately are the cafes and food outings.

From the west to the east, food trucks, hamburgers and pizzerias are the most popular. So get your taste buds ready 🤭.

SEENot for nothing Yummy as a Delivery company became fundamental for many. Specifically in the quarantine of the coronavirus in the first months of 2020.

Part 2: Mobility in Caracas

Another thing that characterizes Caracas is not only its gastronomic offers everywhere with a variety of prices and styles.

Part of its chaos and magic is the way Caraqueños move around in their daily routine. The number of ways to move around is impressive and at the same time absurd.

Impressive because there is variety. There is the subway, buses, cab lines and Moto-taxi.

But now applications like La WaWa and *Yummy Rides" or "Ridery" have won the hearts and trust of many.

But... Who will not fall in love with a service like these apps? After so much agony, social problems and exodus of friends and family.

It seems that technology is looking for one to keep falling in love with the good things that the city has to offer, or at least keeps us with more courage to face the reality of everyday life. That is undeniable.

The fact of feeling safe in the transportation you use is vital. And that's why these apps have also reactivated the productivity of citizens.

Because, if there is mobility, there is spending and if there is spending, there is production... Unfortunately it is not the reality for everyone, but it is the kind of comfort that everyone aspires to.

Trabajo y clases a distancia… Delivery…

Part 3: How to pay in Caracas.

At the beginning of the post, I mentioned that there are many things that have changed and others that not so much 🥺.

Precisely, inflation as I said before is one of the things that does not change... rather it is sadly increasing.

What has generated that many of the Caraqueños are looking for a safe alternative to preserve the money they get from their work whatever the item or sector.

Some buy $ in cash on the black market in order not to devalue their salaries in local currency. Others resort to stable currencies in the crypto world (USDT, BUSD, USDC, DAI, RSV, DOC, HBD).

However... When it comes to pay either in $ in cash or Cryptocurrencies there is the issue of tax for paying for a currency that is not the local one....

If you are one of those who prefer to have $ in cash. The best recommendation is to try to accumulate as many bills of different denominations as possible to make the payment process less tedious with respect to change.

My best recommendation when using cryptocurrencies is to use 3 apps:

  • CoincoinX

It is a Venezuelan exchange that serves to debit the balance in cryptocurrencies paying in Bolivars without having to pay any extra tax.

  • Reserve

It is a wallet used to buy and sell digital dollars. But it also allows you to receive payments in crypto and official money from different countries.

  • Binance

It is one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges out there. And it allows you to exchange it for almost any type of legal tender.

As we have seen... in this small account, Caracas, has been a rough diamond for a long time and everywhere reflects its shine...

This is just a small preamble of the future that this city has to offer us... I am sure of that...

If you had doubts about the power of technology, I invite you to pay attention to the reality we live in... Remote work and classes... Delivery... Transportation applications and also for the use of crypto-assets in common places.

And let's not talk about the fact that now you can go to Farmatodo and pay everything by cell phone 🤭 or that there are stores that already accept crypto in general, but that content will be for another blog 🙈

¡Saludos! ¡Nos vemos en Caracas! ✨⚡☺️
