A First Time in Cusco — Memories That Heal

These are some early memories from a trip to Cusco.
It was my friend Andrés’ first journey to the Great Imperial City. He had never been to Machu Picchu, never seen the snowy peaks, never visited the lagoons. So during my stay there, I invited him for a few days.

As a true Peruvian, he had to know his Cusco to truly represent us. He arrived like a dog with three tails, full of joy and excitement. I tried to take him everywhere I could.

But I made a mistake I often make — thinking everyone moves at my rhythm.
I train, I do sports, I’m acclimated. High altitude doesn’t affect me; it’s just part of my body’s nature. I’ve never suffered from altitude sickness. I had to slow down, understand him, adjust to his pace.

We walked down to Machu Picchu, and I remember he could barely move half an hour after arriving in Aguascalientes. At the hotel, he couldn’t even walk; he had to get full-body decontracting massages.

Then came the rainstorms, the chaos, the adventures — an infinity of stories.
One moment stays with me: when we climbed up to Machu Picchu, everything was foggy and rainy. He was sad, convinced he wouldn’t see anything. The darkness was thick, and nothing was visible.

But then the Apu gifted us one of its most magical spectacles.
The clouds slowly opened, revealing the beauty of Huayna Picchu, the full silhouette of the sacred mountain, and the entire Inca city emerging from the mist — stone by stone, terrace by terrace.

In the end, he saw everything. His joy made the whole journey worth it.

Lately, as I’ve shared, I haven’t gone out much to take photos.
So I’ve been revisiting memories — trying to cover the bad days with beautiful ones, reminding myself that life is magical, and we only get one.

Live fast, live full.
Do sports, travel, photograph, enjoy.

I promise to find myself again.
I’ve been lost for days in my mind, in my disorders, in my depression.
Sometimes it makes me drift away… but never surrender.

Good lives to everyone. 🌿

Yo entreno, hago deporte, estoy aclimatado.

Vivir a mil, a millón.
Hacer deporte, viajar, fotografiar, disfrutar.

Prometo reencontrarme conmigo mismo.
