Dreams Are Fantasies: They Become What You Make Of Them

Immediately, I saw the theme. It connected me to a song I love too much. The title is " I Have a Dream” by ABBA. I would like you to listen to the song. It is an emotionally laden song for me. It has a deep meaning about life and perseverance.

Dwelling on a dream worth dying for. Our dreams show us pathways to our success; they direct and lead us on to our various missions. Our dreams are our visions. They require well-thought-out plans to achieve. We can also say that they are fantasies we can push to realities in our lives or brush away if we do not believe in them.

Everybody has a dream. However, these dreams can become a mere joke if they are not carried through with qualities such as perseverance and resilience. Our great sportsmen and women, leaders, fathers of faith’s achievements were once a dream until they became realities through concerted efforts, pushing through thick and thin until they achieved success.

However, I believe in setting SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) goals. Goals that will not break me, cause mental imbalance, or lead me to depression. Every year, I set out SMART goals after reviewing my previous goals. I map out the reasons I failed to meet up and figure out a way forward. Some of the adjustments I make are to sacrifice for those set goals, for example, I save more, operate a prudent budget, and set adequate controls to enable me to meet those goals. As I move, I review the strategies and continue to make adjustments towards my set goals.

That notwithstanding, our dreams should not be placed above our capacities. No dream is worth dying for. We need to stay alive and healthy to enjoy the fruits of our labour. If we lose our lives while pursuing our set goals, we have only laboured in vain.

Therefore, there should be a balance between our set goals and health. While it is worth the price to pursue our dreams to a logical conclusion, wisdom is needed to manage such situations to avoid labouring in vain.
