"A few good men: una pugna entre la verdad y el honor"(Reseña) [Es-En]

Saludos para todos los que integran esta comunidad de movies and tv shows. En esta oportunidad les traigo la reseña de una película que espero pueda serles de mucho agrado.

Greetings to all the members of this community of movies and tv shows. This time I bring you the review of a movie that I hope you will enjoy.

Exactamente son treinta años los que han pasado desde que se estrenó esta película, y aún se mantiene intacto el mensaje que desde el primer momento el director Rob Reiner quiso plasmar a través de esta joya cinematográfica. “A few good men” (Cuestión de honor) es para muchos, el alma mater de aquellas películas relacionadas con temas judiciales.

Toda esta historia comienza cuando el Capitán de corbeta Joanne Galloway (Demi Moore) toma un extraño caso de asesinato de un marine a manos de dos de sus compañeros. Al ver las irregularidades del mismo, Joanne decide tomar la batuta y salir en su defensa, pero al encontrar varios obstáculos recibe la ayuda y apoyo de los abogados Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise) y Sam Weinberg (Kevin Pollak) quienes ahora serán la cara de la defensa.

Exactly thirty years have passed since this film was released, and the message that director Rob Reiner wanted to convey from the very first moment through this cinematic gem is still intact. "A Few Good Men" (A Matter of Honor) is for many, the alma mater of those films related to judicial issues.

The whole story begins when Lieutenant Commander Joanne Galloway (Demi Moore) takes on a strange case of the murder of a Marine by two of her fellow officers. Seeing the irregularities of the same, Joanne decides to take the baton and come to his defense, but encountering several obstacles receives the help and support of lawyers Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise) and Sam Weinberg (Kevin Pollak) who will now be the face of the defense.

Ante las pocas evidencias a favor y la nula colaboración de otros superiores, llevar el caso adelante no será tarea fácil, además de que del otro lado estará un abogado de altos quilates como lo es el capitán Jack Ross (Kevin Bacon), quien dejará su amistad con los abogados de la defensa a un lado y no tendrá ninguna contemplación a fin de salir victorioso.

Esta película nos permite ver un poco más de cerca dos escenarios bastante emocionantes como los son las instituciones militares o fuerzas especiales y los tribunales, este último convirtiéndose en el campo de batalla donde no habrá descanso ni tregua. La trama destaca puntos muy sobresalientes que si bien se desarrollan dentro de dichas instituciones, no necesitamos ser militares retirados ni estudiar leyes para captar la esencia de este magistral guion.

With little evidence in favor and no collaboration from other superiors, taking the case forward will not be an easy task, plus on the other side will be a lawyer of high carats such as Captain Jack Ross (Kevin Bacon), who will leave his friendship with the defense lawyers aside and will not have any contemplation in order to emerge victorious.

This film allows us to take a closer look at two very exciting scenarios such as the military institutions or special forces and the courts, the latter becoming the battlefield where there will be no rest or truce. The plot highlights very outstanding points that although they are developed within these institutions, we do not need to be retired military or study law to grasp the essence of this masterful script.

El elenco principal derrocha por si solo la clase digna para una película como esta. Es interesante mencionar que hasta el mismo Cuba Gooding jr. (Cabo Carl Hammaker) pasa algo desapercibido pero no por una mala actuación sino porque solo tiene una pequeña intervención dentro de la historia, participación que sin embargo llega a ser muy trascendental en el desarrollo del juicio.

Son casi dos horas (ciento treinta y ocho minutos) de lo que en mi opinión es un verdadero duelo de ajedrez, una batalla de estrategias y jugadas que marcarán el rumbo de una historia que nos pasea por el mural del honor y la obediencia, el respeto y la dignidad, el poder del rango y las leyes dentro de aquellas entidades que se definen por sus conceptos de rectitud y disciplina.

The main cast alone wastes the class worthy of a film like this. It is interesting to mention that even Cuba Gooding Jr. himself (Corporal Carl Hammaker) goes unnoticed, not because of a bad performance but because he only has a small intervention in the story, a participation that nevertheless becomes very transcendental in the development of the trial.

There are almost two hours (one hundred and thirty-eight minutes) of what in my opinion is a true chess duel, a battle of strategies and moves that will mark the course of a story that takes us through the mural of honor and obedience, respect and dignity, the power of rank and the laws within those entities that are defined by their concepts of rectitude and discipline.

La película se centra más en los detalles y retos que los abogados Daniel, Sam y Joanne deben superar ya que obviamente todo está a favor del otro bando, y más si dentro de los implicados se encuentran hombres de rango y renombre dentro de la institución como lo es el Coronel Nathan Jessup (Jack Nicholson) quien es uno de los señalados en este misterioso caso.

Como ya lo dije anteriormente, los protagonistas tienen una participación de altura. A pesar de todo, mi mención especial es para Demi Moore por su papel dentro de una trama que si bien no se desarrolla de manera directa con ella, lo cierto es que este personaje de Joanne se da un buen lugar donde brilla con luz propia y en un ambiente donde normalmente la intervención femenina suele subestimarse.

The film focuses more on the details and challenges that the lawyers Daniel, Sam and Joanne must overcome since obviously everything is in favor of the other side, and more if among those involved are men of rank and renown within the institution as is Colonel Nathan Jessup (Jack Nicholson) who is one of those singled out in this mysterious case.

As I said before, the protagonists have a high level of participation. In spite of everything, my special mention goes to Demi Moore for her role in a plot that although it does not develop directly with her, the truth is that this character of Joanne is given a good place where she shines with her own light and in an environment where normally the female intervention is usually underestimated.

Para mí, el tema principal de esta película parte de algo tan real como lo son aquellos códigos o reglas tan enmarcados que se desarrollan en el seno de dichas instituciones, parámetros que si bien nunca encontrarás en un manual, son muy existentes y están muy estrechamente relacionados con las aptitudes y comportamientos de las personas.

Como experiencia personal, puedo decir que en algún momento de mi adolescencia llegué a pensar en una carrera militar, pero recuerdo que a muchos de mis compañeros no les agradaba la idea por esas llamadas reglas de conductas en las que básicamente los de mayor rango podían hacerle ciertas cosas a los nuevos, y por eso de los rangos tendrían los recién ingresados que aceptar dicho trato. Al ver esta película me di cuenta de que, más de ser un rumor, era una realidad y más que eso, una especie de ley de disciplina no escrita.

For me, the main theme of this film starts from something as real as those codes or rules so framed that are developed within these institutions, parameters that although you will never find in a manual, are very existing and are very closely related to the skills and behaviors of people.

As a personal experience, I can say that at some point in my adolescence I thought about a military career, but I remember that many of my classmates did not like the idea because of those so-called rules of conduct in which basically those of higher rank could do certain things to newcomers, and because of the ranks the newcomers would have to accept such treatment. When I saw this movie I realized that, more than being a rumor, it was a reality and more than that, a kind of unwritten law of discipline.

Volviendo a la película, el punto de quiebre de esta historia se demarca en el conflicto que hay al tener que obedecer una orden o no, ya que por muy razonable o no que sea, a veces parece haber un lineamiento donde no hay que pensar, solo obedecer, lo cual abre un debate en cuanto a la ética moral que expone a muchos a situaciones tales en donde la propia vida puede estar en riesgo.

El guion de esta película guarda muchísimas frases que aluden a reflexionar en la justicia, la lealtad, el respeto y muchas cualidades que son tan aplicables tanto en la historia como en la vida real. También se percibe ese amor a la patria que nunca será cuestionado mientras esto no vaya en contra de cualquier principio moral.

Returning to the film, the breaking point of this story is demarcated in the conflict of having to obey an order or not, because no matter how reasonable or not, sometimes there seems to be a guideline where you do not have to think, just obey, which opens a debate on moral ethics that exposes many to situations where their own life may be at risk.

The script of this film keeps many phrases that allude to reflect on justice, loyalty, respect and many qualities that are so applicable both in the story and in real life. There is also that love of country that will never be questioned as long as it does not go against any moral principle.

“Las mejores batallas se ganan, no con fuerza, sino con estrategia”. Y es que a veces no se trata de derrumbar una montaña sino tratar de que esta caiga por su propio peso, y esto es algo que me deja como reflexión durante todo el juicio de la película en la que sin duda, los involucrados hacen un papel digno del mejor premio que se pueda considerar.

Así que, si eres de esas personas que le gusta desmenuzar cada escena de la historia, no te será difícil encontrar mucho de esa inteligencia emocional, ese carácter que se necesita para afrontar muchas situaciones que aunque parezcan imposibles, nunca arrancarán de ti la fe de creer que se puede encontrar la justicia y la verdad, y la capacidad de demostrar un honor genuino que demuestre realmente la clase de persona que podemos ser y lo que nos permite dar lo mejor de nosotros.

De principio a fin, esta película será una verdadera pugna entre la verdad y el honor, ¿Quién ganará? Creo que la sorpresa será el resultado en lo que todo esto deparará para dejarnos una verdadera lección universal.

"The best battles are won, not with force, but with strategie". And is that sometimes it is not about knocking down a mountain but trying to make it fall under its own weight, and this is something that leaves me as a reflection throughout the trial of the film in which undoubtedly, those involved play a role worthy of the best award that can be considered.

So, if you are one of those people who likes to pick apart every scene in the story, you will not find it hard to find a lot of that emotional intelligence, that character that is needed to face many situations that although they may seem impossible, will never tear from you the faith to believe that justice and truth can be found, and the ability to show genuine honor that truly demonstrates the kind of person we can be and what allows us to give the best of ourselves.

From start to finish, this film will be a real struggle between truth and honor, who will win? I think the surprise will be the outcome in what all this will bring to leave us with a true universal lesson.
