"Lo que sostiene a una familia" // "What sustains the family"
Desde niño Tim se convirtió en el favorito de la familia por su humor y carisma, un vínculo de cariño y amor que fácilmente se podía ganar el corazón de cualquiera. En su inocencia de infancia Tim siempre supo valorar el regalo de una familia muy unida a pesar de tener tan poco y no poder disfrutar de una buena comida en la que todos estuvieran felices compartiendo un momento especial y agradable. Ese era el sueño que Tim todas las noches dibujaba en su imaginación mientras pedía una oportunidad para poder hacer sus deseos realidad.
Entre noches y lunas el niño percibió como el tiempo transcurría mientras todo seguía igual o hasta incluso peor. Ya su madre no tenía el mismo semblante de aquella mujer diligente y laboriosa, y la figura de su padre se hacía cada vez más borrosa por lo tarde que solía llegar de un trabajo que solo le brindaba migajas y poca alegría. Aún así, jamás se rindieron y cada domingo los padres de Tim y sus hermanos se sentaban debajo de un pequeño árbol para disfrutar de una pequeña comida y en donde lo que más predominaba era el amor. No había un banquete ni nada que excediera en lujo, pero la felicidad de estar juntos era el ingrediente completo y perfecto para aquella ocasión.
Since childhood, Tim became the family favorite because of his humor and charisma, a bond of affection and love that could easily win anyone's heart. In his childhood innocence, Tim always appreciated the gift of a close-knit family, despite having so little and not being able to enjoy a good meal where everyone was happy sharing a special and pleasant moment. That was the dream that Tim drew in his imagination every night as he asked for a chance to make his wishes come true.
Between nights and moons, the boy perceived how time passed while everything remained the same or even worse. His mother no longer had the same countenance as that diligent and hard-working woman, and his father's figure became increasingly blurred by how late he used to come home from a job that only brought him crumbs and little joy. Even so, they never gave up, and every Sunday Tim's parents and siblings would sit under a small tree to enjoy a small meal where love was the most important thing. There was no banquet or anything excessive in terms of luxury, but the happiness of being together was the complete and perfect ingredient for that occasion.
Tim se prometió a sí mismo poder regalarle algo más a su familia, y fue tan grande ese anhelo que por momentos no disfrutó de esa cita dominical que no fallaba, así fuera solo para hablar. Él pensó que si trabajaba con mucho esfuerzo y esmero entonces si podría disfrutar de esa cena que tanto quería compartir con sus familiares y para eso estuvo dispuesto a renunciar a sus sueños y a sacrificar todo pensando amén algo mucho mejor. "Sé que ese día llegará y al fin seremos verdaderamente felices", era lo que Tim se repetía día tras día mientras el tiempo se acumulaba en años.
Al fin llegaron las condiciones ideales y Tim lo tenía absolutamente todo para darle a su familia lo que él pensaba que era lo faltante para poder ser al fin muy felices, y como costumbre familiar Tim quiso regresar a celebrar ese día domingo tan especial que solía tener con sus hermanos y sus padres. No faltaba nada en sentido material, pero había un detalle en la vida de esas personas que el tiempo jamás espera no perdona: algunos ya no estaban, y la madre de Tim ya no podía sostenerse en sus propios pasos. Parece que todo afuera había cambiado, pero en el corazón de todos la rutina y el stress hizo un profundo hoyo del cual sus sentimientos ya no podían brotar.
Tim promised himself that he would be able to give his family something more, and that desire was so strong that at times he did not enjoy those Sunday dates that never failed, even if it was just to talk. He thought that if he worked hard and diligently, he would be able to enjoy the dinner he so wanted to share with his family, and for that he was willing to give up his dreams and sacrifice everything, thinking that something much better was waiting for him. "I know that day will come and we will finally be truly happy," Tim repeated to himself day after day as the years went by.
Finally, the ideal conditions arrived, and Tim had absolutely everything he needed to give his family what he thought was missing in order to finally be very happy. As was the family custom, Tim wanted to return to celebrate that special Sunday he used to have with his siblings and parents. Nothing was missing in a material sense, but there was one detail in the lives of these people that time never waits for and never forgives: some were no longer there, and Tim's mother could no longer stand on her own two feet. It seemed that everything outside had changed, but in everyone's hearts, routine and stress had created a deep hole from which their feelings could no longer spring forth.
Entonces Tim comprendió una valiosa lección de vida, en la cual para los sentimientos no hay mejor tiempo como el presente para vivirlos y así poder llenar nuestra vida con sentido y mucho significado. Quizás nunca sea bajo las condiciones ideales, pero el amor en familia es algo que jamás dejará de ser el banquete más importante para nutrir nuestro corazón. Aún en el refugio de la soledad las personas no dejan de añorar un momento para disfrutar con otras personas, hablar y sonreír junto a ellos, percibiendo esa bonita sensación que proviene de lo que no vemos pero si podemos sentir en lo más profundo del alma.
El amor siempre estará allí para nosotros, y que bonito cuando gracias a este sentimiento muchas familias hoy siguen adelante. Con problemas, momentos y circunstancias difíciles, pero sin renunciar nunca a ese afecto especial que nos parece dar un plus para seguir adelante. Siempre habrá un momento para ellos y para nosotros, así que no dejes que otras cosas quieran robarse ese tiempo tan importante que necesitamos vivir con nuestros seres queridos. Si tienes una familia, conservas un maravilloso tesoro, así que no dejes que su brillo se opaque y que cada día encuentres una razón para amar a cada miembro más y más.
Then Tim understood a valuable life lesson: that there is no better time than the present to experience feelings and thus fill our lives with meaning and significance. Perhaps conditions will never be ideal, but family love is something that will never cease to be the most important nourishment for our hearts. Even in the refuge of solitude, people never stop longing for a moment to enjoy with others, to talk and smile with them, perceiving that beautiful feeling that comes from what we cannot see but can feel deep in our souls.
Love will always be there for us, and how beautiful it is that thanks to this feeling, many families today continue to move forward. With problems, difficult moments, and circumstances, but without ever giving up that special affection that seems to give us an extra boost to keep going. There will always be a moment for them and for us, so don't let other things steal that important time we need to spend with our loved ones. If you have a family, you have a wonderful treasure, so don't let its shine fade and find a reason every day to love each member more and more.
