Tips for reading literary classics [ESP/ING]

En una de esas conversaciones que tengo con @lucianav ella me decía que yo he leído muchos libros clásicos; la verdad es que no siento que sean muchísimos pero si son varios, hay unos que son mis favoritos, como por ejemplo: Cien Años de Soledad de Gabriel García Márquez, El Túnel de Ernesto Sabato y un clásico más venezolano Piedra de Mar de Francisco Massiani. Así que por ello voy a dar algunos consejos desde mi experiencia por si quieren comenzar un clásico.
In one of those conversations I have with @lucianav she told me that I have read many classic books; the truth is that I do not feel that there are many but there are several, there are some that are my favorites, such as: One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez, The Tunnel by Ernesto Sabato and a more Venezuelan classic Piedra de Mar by Francisco Massiani. So I am going to give some advice from my experience if you want to start a classic.
1| Tomar el tiempo necesario
1| Take the necessary time
La mayoría de los libros clásicos tardan más tiempo en leerse que los libros cotidianos, esto tiene que ver con el lenguaje utilizado, las costumbres de la época; por lo que necesitamos concentrarnos y por lo tanto podemos dedicar mucho más tiempo a la lectura de estos libros. De hecho, es algo que debemos mentalizar cuando un clásico de la literatura nos llama la atención, por lo que no queremos leer un clásico en dos horas.
Most classic books take a longer time to read than everyday books, this has to do with the language used, the customs of that time; so we need to concentrate and therefore we can spend much more time reading these books. In fact, it is something that we must mentalize when a classic of literature catches our attention, so we do not want to read a classic in two hours.
2| Investigar primero el contexto
2| Investigate the context first
Los libros clásicos suelen tener un gran contexto, entonces antes de leer un libro investiguen y lean algunas reseñas sin spoilers para saber que filim pueden tener con la historia. Esto es algo que es muy importante incluso para todos los libros. También se trata de investigar al autor, ya que a través de ello, podemos entender la vida del mismo y como ha influido esto en la historia que nos deciden contar.
Classic books usually have a lot of context, so before reading a book do some research and read some spoiler-free reviews so you know what the story might be about. This is something that is very important even for all books. It is also about researching the author, as through this, we can understand the author's life and how this has influenced the story they choose to tell us.
3| Tener un diccionario

La verdad es que con el internet podemos tener un diccionario solo con darle click a alguna pagina, es importante que cuando vayamos a leer este libro; visualicemos las palabras que no comprendemos o que pocas veces usamos para poder entonces disfrutar de una lectura más fluida, personalmente pienso que si entendemos el contexto, las palabras y la historia tenemos una experiencia muy exitosa en la lectura.
The truth is that with the internet we can have a dictionary just by clicking on a page, it is important that when we go to read this book; we visualize the words that we do not understand or that we rarely use so we can then enjoy a more fluent reading, personally I think that if we understand the context, the words and the story we have a very successful reading experience.
4| Anotar algunas cosas

Puede ser que pasen muchas cosas o que tengamos muchas expresiones en este libro; entonces si pienso que es importante tener anotaciones para que cuando sintamos que perdimos el hilo revisemos las anotaciones y posiblemente nos contextualicemos de nuevo, yo tomo anotaciones para ello y porque cuando hago reseñas de libro me sirven muchísimo.
It could be that many things happen or that we have many expressions in this book; so I think it is important to have notes so that when we feel we have lost the thread we can review the notes and possibly contextualize ourselves again, I take notes for this and because when I review a book they are very useful to me.
5| Conversar o debatir con amigos

Parte de la experiencia de lectura, viene también cuando terminas el libro y comienzas a conversar o recomendar; es muy bueno debatir y así hay una retroalimentación de una historia muchas veces vemos las cosas desde otras perspectiva completamente diferente. Así que la lectura conjunto de libros clásicos es muy buena.
Part of the reading experience also comes when you finish the book and you start to discuss or recommend; it's very good to discuss and so there is a feedback of a story and many times we see things from a completely different perspective. So reading classic books together is very good.
La verdad es que todos estos consejos se pueden aplicar para cualquier tipo de lectura, pero hay unas que son tan fluidas que nos comemos en poco tiempo la historia, me encantan los clásicos siempre tienen un toque tan especial.

The truth is that all these tips can be applied to any type of reading, but there are some that are so fluid that we eat in a short time the story, I love the classics always have such a special touch.

The discussion and the dictionary are indeed necessary especially when one is not a native English speaker. And again, I've heard even native requires it too as they read the classics. Oh yeah, there is also anglo-saxon literature which I think everyone would definitely need notes to write down the uncommon words.
